At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
Oh boy.
It seems to be a common misconception that someone cannot withdraw from a discussion without it automatically being a victory for the other person. Hardly. This also seems to lead to the "carry on arguing relentlessly until the other person gets fed up and then declare victory" tactic. The purpose of honest debate is supposed to be to exchange ideas, possibly with a view to giving the other person some things to consider. It's not to spout off constantly until the other person gets tired of you. If that's what you consider to be a victory, then clearly "winning the argument" is more important to you than actually being right, or properly communicating good ideas.
