Google "project Steve'.

There are currently 1400 scientists just with the name "Steve" that agree with the following statement:

"Evolution is a vital, well-supported, unifying principle of the biological sciences, and the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that all living things share a common ancestry. Although there are legitimate debates about the patterns and processes of evolution, there is no serious scientific doubt that evolution occurred or that natural selection is a major mechanism in its occurrence. Scientists with the name "Steve" only account for 1% of all scientists. 

The creationist list, Dissent from Darwin, only has 500 scientists total, all names included. And many of these are in fields that have nothing to do with the biological sciences. Seriously, the creationist list includes 36 computer scientists and 117 physicists! Why would you ask computer scientists or physicists about biology?

The Project Steve list only includes biological scientists.

So no, there is no "loss of scientists to Gawd".

Again, assuming we were born atheists. I'm not among that crew, though I have to admit, I never was a strong believer. But there are folks here, on this very board, who virtually got the fear of god hammered into their heads, bible studies included. And still they left. Most of us arrived at where we are by reading the bible, but not closing our eyes when reality comes to call.

Yeah, the biblical literature class and history of Christianity class that were so instrumental in my deconversion? Taught by Christians. In a Christian college. I got everything I need to know about the bible through the church and other Christian sources.
