About atheism

RE: About atheism
You don't worship it? What's your problem with us then? You think something is real and we don't. So what? How does that make you any better than us, because you buy into a story?

Yes, vulnerable people are an easy target for peddling woo. So what?

No, I don't subscribe to that either. The reason why religion still exists is because people want to have some higher meaning. Because they can't deal with losing loved ones forever and because they want to be taken by the hand and have some kind of guidance. Most of all it exists, because religion offers the ultimate kind of life insurance.

I watched popular atheists on youtube like Dawkins and Hitchens and they mostly said that we are soulless meatbags and we should be man enough to accept it.

We being soulless meatbags isn't an atheistic belief. Atheism is SIMPLY THE LACK OF BELIEF IN A DEITY.

I'm seriously getting sick of people thinking atheism is a belief, atheism isn't a belief, atheism makes no assumptions, atheism has no rules, atheism isn't a religion, a cult, it's not anything like that it's simply yet again THE LACK OF BELIEF IN A DEITY AND NOTHING MORE.

Debating is fun and I didn't say I was better.

People often and myself included dislike God because his existance makes us somthing in the middle between slave and servant, which for the most is unacceptable.

But the problem with reality without a God/divinie is that offten people see themselves as biomass - illusion because of temporary nature.

Afterlife is not a physical state but a divine one.

You say temporary like it's a bad thing?

You cannot have a godless/faceless magical/immaterial afterlife where you continue to live, there has to be a organaizer in the end.

Bottom line is that people are egoistic and religion still exist mostly because of the fear of hell. Hell is unbearable idea and just like unicorns it cannot be denied as false. Atheism doesn't exist. Agnosticism does.

Are you really this dense? Sorry, but I cannot hate something that has never shown itself to be real. Again, as others have said - should there be proof that such a god exists, I could change my mind, but it's highly doubtful that there is such a god since we've not actually had any sort of tangible evidence backing up claims of existence. All we've had are stories from people who "claim" to have seen him (or felt him or talked to him; ad nauseaum). Those claims, in and of themselves do NOT make the existence of a god a reality.

You're entitled to your opinion, but when you make such statements as "Atheism is an illusion made by arrogant people who just hate the idea of a God.", it makes you sound just like those ignorant religious nuts who tell us the same damn thing. Don't assume that I hate god. I hate some of my family members for personal reasons. But those people are real people who have done real things to cause a division between me and them. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that god doesn't exist, therefore I can't hate him for the things that have happened in my life.

@Purple.

Speaking only for myself, I -love- the idea of some gods.  There are alot of them...and for every crapgod I don't care for like Yahweh there are dozens of comic, tragic, or just downright awesome gods that I thoroughly enjoy.  Doesn't help me to believe in any of them, and I've never understood why people think it's relevant to belief in either direction.

Is that how belief works? If, for example...I hate the idea of people starving.....does that mean that I will somehow not believe that people are starving? If I really love the idea of peppered bacon, does that mean that I will begin to believe that by feeding a sow jalepenos I can make that happen?

Is that how belief works for you..in your experience?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yes. For example agnostic position is a default. You add religious fate and a person is sure like its a fact that God exists. You add "Atheistic" fate and person says "I decided that God doesn't exist".
