No. I'm saying that I could not justify dragging or shoving my child to his/her death, even to save the others...just because he/she happens to be available and of suitable mass.
But if you don't shove your one child to death, you're essentially killing your other 5 children. Are you somehow implying that the consequences of your inaction are nonexistent? I'm having trouble following you.
Choosing to do nothing is also choosing to do something,imo.

It depends on who the five were in relation to the one.
If they were 5 known jersey shore types (or worse) and the one guy is a Tesla, Einstein or eddison then the five get to buy the farm.
If their are 5 Christians and one Atheist douche who has a chance of changing his ways, then the 5 again die.
If this were a real situation then I'd try and 1/2 switch the track causing the trolley to derail even if their were more people inside as they would have some protection against the impact verse the people simply standing/tied (because who would just stand) on the tracks.

So, in short, you'd essentially be killing 5 of your children and saving one as opposed to saving all the 5 children and killing one. And you're okay with that?

In -that- situation, where 3 of my kids were on the trolley and letting one die would save them..I wouldn't be satisfied with either option. I'd likely get us all killed trying to save all 4. Meh, maybe I'd leave the one who's not in immanent danger behind and hop on the trolley. Hard to say. Tuck and roll heathens, tuck and roll.

It'd be heartbreaking, but I'd probably kill one of my children to save the other five and then kill myself because I could never live with that..
