Personally, I find calling someone subhuman to be worse than calling someone's mother a whore, but I haven't been in a playground fight in years. I suppose all is fair in hair pulling and name calling.

A suggestion Los.  Worship
Keep well away from Orlando and if you go there avoid to say that Omar Mateen deserve to be called
a human being.
I would not like to come to Orlando to pick up the pieces of my future wife.  Indubitably

Well I think he does. If anyone has a problem with me having that opinion, they can probably guess where I would tell them to put that problem.

Gee I see you're doing a lot for distinguishing yourself from the "sub-humans"!

Would you be still of the same opinion if the IS throw your gay brother down a toll building?
Get real dreamer.  Bong

YES, I would! I would be immensely angry towards those who did it and their primitive set of beliefs, but I would never start calling them sub-humans.

I think that when you call someone a sub-human you are basically telling him "you are completely alien to me, and you don't deserve any right whatsoever". It's a very strong emotional response, sure, but it's fundamentally wrong. Humans remain humans no matter what heinous crimes they commit.

You're basically saying that because such an emotional response exists, we should abandon all kinds of reason and just go ahead and call people sub-humans. But why the fuck would you do that?

A different thing is to do nothing and dream that after all they are all ok.  Popcorn

Saying they're human =/= they are ok. Humans can be sick fucks, but they're still humans!

In fact, labelling people who commit atrocities - or who simply don't meet our standards - as "subhuman" legitimises, superficially, both their actions and society's treatment of them. "Yeah, this subhuman killed a bunch of people, but that's what subhumans do - he can't help it. And doing unspeakable things to him in the name of punishment is fully justified. After all, it's not as though we're punishing an actual person, now is it?"
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Religion often makes that distinction, sometimes explicitly.

Which is why religion makes a perfect shield for the psychopath.

"We didn't murder that child, your honour, we banished the demon inside her. It's not our fault she didn't survive - blame Satan. You're just persecuting us for our beliefs, as usual!"
