Which would be their problem, when the local boys fail we ask the federal boys to step in. It's their job, the only reason they exist. Personally, I think that the local boys attitudes would change if they had to face the reality of being made irrelevant by their federal counterparts. At present, they don;t face that reality in this context, and so it's easy to see why they feel empowered to ignore what they are bound by law and duty to uphold.
Here's a proposition, if a state fails to support the uniform enforcement of federal law, cut them off from federal dollars. Watch the red states scream to high heaven about being taken off the dole on account of their laxity. They should understand this perfectly well...when a local franchisee fails to comply with corporate standards, he no longer has access to the franchise.

No problem here. But let's apply it to everything. Very soon I expect the red-state nutters to begin shrieking their balls off about the latest SC decision on abortion. "Activist Judges" they will scream at the top of their lungs.

As do I, but I just don't care. If they want the DOD to keep sending them urban assault gear for their slave patrols, and the NSA to keep supporting their efforts to surveil our citizenry, they can at least tow the fucking line. I don't think they give a shit about abortion enough to cut off the flow. They aren;t the ideologues they make themselves out to be. Inconvenience them and they'll suddenly be convinced through thoughtful prayer and bible study that god doesn't give a shit about a fetus after all. The verses are there, just waiting for a profitable need to invoke them.

-and just because I have to get this out...I'm sure they'll suddenly realize that gods not a red blooded 'murrican gun guy after all..otherwise what's he doing recruiting all the godamned shooters to do his wet work?
