RE: Emergency Auxiliary Backup Cat #2 health scare
Well, he's had his ear drops and antibiotic eye dropper.

neither received joyfully

still can't walk, but seems otherwise comfortable.

Have you surrounded him with puppy pads in case he needs to pee? I had to do that with an elderly cat about five years ago because she'd literally stand up, pee where she was and then move over slightly to lay back down.

There's a litter box in the fortress of solitude annex, and it looks like he did something in it during the night.

Could not have been fun for him with the bad case of the staggers he has . . .

Fur still a mess from the ear rinse yesterday too, so his self cleaning schedule is suspended too

Awe.... that poor baby Sad

My cold has developed into a lovely case of sinusitis and bronchitis so I'm feeling miserable myself. Maybe 2 can share his fortress of solitude with me Heart

Well,

he's found where I moved the hutch to and he's parked under it now.

It struck me tonite how good natured he's been (and even being a little poopy during med time hasn't been too bad) despite clearly not feeling a bit good. Other sick cats over the years have been variable in their tolerance to people here, and it's really appreciated this one is being generally nice as ever.

Updates, Vorls? I'm thinking of you and your little friend, and hoping for some good news soon!

Talked to the vet (left cat home) and he sent home some pureed cat food for me to syringe into his mouth.

Oh, happy, happy, joy, joy.

Finally got home, managed to load the syringe with the (disturbing) goo, then had to hunt around to find the cat (he apparently got an idea I was going to do something he wasn't going to like much) and after I snagged him I commenced to injecting the food in.

Well, he wasn't thrilled with that much, and while not really resisting, he was cooperating at all.

Then at some point, we had quite a mess building up on me, and the cat was relieved I had briefly relented to reload the syringe, and then

we had a magic moment!!

he started licking up the slop that had spilled on me!!

So, realizing the cat liked the stuff, and was willing to eat it it without the syringe apparatus, I spooned out a largish blob onto a little paper plate, and away he went, just about inhaling it. In just a few moments he had nailed half the can. Figured that was a good place to stop, not sure if he is going to be barfy or not.

It's been a while, no barf, and he's sleeping it off now.

Condition wise, the eye shimmy has abated, even his pupils seem to be fairly well matched in size now. He's holding his head at an angle still, right side down about 30 degrees still. Walking while improved, is still punctuated with staggers and falls, although he gets further now.

We've turned the corner, he's getting better, and he's eating now. I'll keep the antibiotics going and we'll head back to the vet on Saturday.
