The founding fathers, for better or worse, seem to serve as a kind of ersatz messianic figures. Isn't perceived "intent" of the founding fathers always the ultimate arbiter?

I think when it comes down to it people have just got to learn to accept that what the founding fathers probably really intended deep down was for everyone to worship the one true turtle i.e. me.
