Anonymous posting

It does seem like adding anonymous posting would be behind a long list of other priorities.

Anonymous posting might be fun for frivolous threads, but I don't think the functionality would add that much to the forum.

Well when I was doing that thingy with Magi... for automating vote counts in Mafia... part of the process involved installing the forum software that this site runs on... so in theory if I can remember how to use that, or even what/where it is I could explore it and see if it has this function.

I personally feel like this thread is a perfect example of why anonymous posting would be a fantastic social experiment. I don't think I would like it as a permanent thing unless it was limited to a specific subforum, but I would love to see a week of everyone being anonymous and then go back and see who was who. I think it would really be an eye opening experience for all of us to see how much that username really affects how we treat people on this forum.

Right... MyBB... now it's coming back to me... and WAMPServer as the stuff to run it on which I've just checked and is still installed but I haven't got a clue (now) how to use it... I hate Web Development and completely suck at it.

Yeah, I'd love to give it a go...either your way or as a subforum. I gotta be blunt here... although we may aspire to read/treat every post objectively it just doesn't happen in practice... usernames and the emotional baggage that comes with them, good or bad, can't fail to have an influence (imo).

Tbh I don't aspire to treat every post objectively. I do try to treat people fairly though.
