Actually that looks like the fire alarm control pane, also called an FACC panel. Often times these have relatively nothing to do with the sprinkler system and more with the detection and alert portion. Think smoke and heat detectors. It appears from what you said is that it is throwing a trouble alarm code for the battery. These systems have a battery back-up to AC power. It will look like a small brick, usually located at the bottom of the panel. When the voltage drops as the batteries age the system throws the battery trouble code.

The facility or building manager should be notified. It is a fairly inexpensive fix. Hitting the trouble silence button will merely silence the system temporarily. As the system performs routine diagnostics it will generally reissue the audible alarm.

In short the property owner, maintenance, or facility manager should be able to address this with relative ease. I suggest informing them through email if you can so there is a record of the conversation. Often times when the responsible party is informed that it is a safety issue and that you are documenting it to create a written record of notification, things get accomplished.

The thing with the battery is that it is new. The beeping has been going on for a long time and it has only been a week since the battery light has lit up. Usually it is just the "common trouble" light. I knew that the silence button was temp but I was only doing it for relief of the sound since I didn't want to touch things I didn't know about. I will say I have written them through our maintenance log but they ignored it. They keep claiming that they have new staff due to a buy out but that got old after the first year.

Also I told Tony to threaten calling the marshal and they said someone would come fix it. Apparently the maintenance man came out and now the lights are off except the AC one and the beeping has stopped but we have had them stop the beeping before only to have it come back on later that night so we are waiting to see if there is a victory.

That's true. I was looking more at the tag where is says there is a problem with the tamper switch not reporting to the panel.

They 'fixed' it and yet again it is beeping again. It isn't so loud now, I can only hear it if I leave my apartment so at least now I can sleep. But they fixed the door and now we can't turn it off.
