I agree. They could try pretending to be one, or trying to get into the mindset of one, however.

Evolution, big bang, natural selection etc aren't atheistic.

Not atheistic per se, but naturalistic - as scientific principles, they are based on the assumption that no god directly interferes with them. That's already asking to much for some of the religious.

They are not based on the a priori assumption that no god interfered with them. They simply conclud that based on present understanding God is neither a productive nor a parsimonious hypothesis for what had affected those processes.

A belief in god isn't exclusively theistic i.e religious.

It depends on definitions but I'd say belief in God is theism. Not all theists are religious however. I'm disheartened by the small percentage that are not, in the same way I'd be disappointed if only a few people didn't crawl into a hole they believed was an elephant's arse hole.

A belief in god can also be deism, deism isn't religious and doesn't have any problems with science. However, both of em' are just as bullshit, pulled out of thin air.

Sure. I'd say deism is a subset of theism. The most rational one.

I don't think even amongst atheists there can be found many who, in their private thoughts, believe in absolutely nothing that can be regarded as bull shit and pulled out of thin air.
Thought policing advances no worthwhile objective.
The key is do the belief in bullshit pulled out of thin air lead believers to actions that harms others, such as proselytizing, science denial, etc.
