Yes, that's something I've heard before too. What counts as "life" is essentially arbitrary. So it's more reasonable to expect a gradual transition rather than a pop-up book.

Please visit my website here! It's got lots of information about atheism/theism and support for new atheists.
Quote:God put Adam and Eve here and gave them the best protection that he could give them, which was his word:
"Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
I always find myself wondering what kind of flaming asshole could take that shit literally and then you come along and give a demonstration.
Notice that the definition includes a concordance of the way it's used in the Bible.
KJV Translation Count — Total: 16x
The KJV translates Strongs H5377 in the following manner: deceive (12x), greatly (1x), beguiled me (1x), seize (1x), utterly (1x).
In the Bible, it is usually translated as "decieve." The sole time in the Bible is translated into anything potentially resembling anything sexual is in that verse, and, given that it seems most of the translations using that word are based around the King James Bible, I'm inclined to consider it was the translators' committee's idea to use that word. Why? Well, let's look at this little object lesson:
This might seem a bit off topic at first, but, if you look closely, you'll see why. You see, in Into The Woods, especially in this film version, The Big Bad Wolf is played like a sexual predator. Some stage versions go so far as to give him a giant, dangling, penis (Disney, thankfully, had the sense to avoid this little costuming choice). However, it should be noted that there's no indication that he ever actually sexually assaults Red Riding Hood. He simply eats her.
So, why did Sondheim choose to have the Big Bad Wolf portrayed in such a way that he comes across like a child rapist even though he doesn't actually do anything to her that hasn't been done in countless other versions?
When you can have an answer to that, you'll understand why the translators of the King James Bible translated "nasha" as "beguiled." Because it will be the same goddamn answer.
Oh, so you're going to dodge and refuse to answer the 2 questions I specifically asked you?
Question #1: Were you wrong on implying that governments were not corporations?
Question #2: Were you wrong on implying that 'seduce' was not included in the definition of the word 'nasha'?
Huggy, governments are not corporations in the way freetards think they are. Freetards use the word corporation in a highly specific manner, to donate a joint stock company (incidentally joint stock companies are themsevles well out of style, mainly due to issues with their governance and liability). So to answer your first question, governments are not corporations, i.e. private for profit comanies, as freetards think they are.
Question two is irrelevant because seduce in the sexual sense is clearly not the meaning of "nasha" per the context of the story. You do know there are more meanings to seduce than the strictly sexual sense?

What do mean by "So if you don't think God is literally all power"?
It just seemed that if you were saying life as we find it -with childhood cancers, starvation, psychopaths, and so on- was the "best God could do" that you were essentially scaling down the omni-powerful bit. It is always amazing to me that people are willing to jump from "more powerful than I can imagine" to "limitlessly powerful". What do puny humans know about that difference, or the difference between "eternity" and a "hell of a long time", or "all knowing" and "smarter than me". I think it is weird for people to make "omni" a definitional given regarding their secret, special friends.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - John 1:1
That makes the Word all powerful.
Everything that was made was created by the Word...
Again, you weren't there to see it. You don't know how to replicate it. Yet you claim to know that the trick to the creation was the logos. Why not just say "my theory is God created everything through the word because I've decided to double down on what everything the bible says and to do my best to understand it in the most literal, unimaginative manner possible"?

First you find a man named Ignatius*.
Second you find Huggy's abode.
Third you bring Ignatius to Huggy's abode.
Fourth you perseuade Ignatius to give Huggy a piggy-back, and Huggy to take it.
And there you have it Huggy on Iggy.
*Not 100% neccessary, anybody nicknamed Iggy will do.

Yet another mystery of faith, I suppose.
we do NOT believe that life arose from non-life. God IS the source of all life,
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: - John 14:6
So if God is life, and life came from God, how is it abiogenesis?
Are you going to throw a tempter tantrum when I hold you to this living god business, like you did when I held you to the snakeman? If god's a living thing...and you don't believe in abiogenesis....I have questions.
Cheifly, where did -that- life come from? There must be a living source for godlife, something it came from, or else were still talking abiogenesis.
