All the choices are going to have flaws, but the fact that we need a change is still there. We have an extreme religious right party going against a center right party. Where are the progressives and real liberals supposed to go?

It's not as if they have some legitimate place -to- go. They can either hold their noses and vote, or not vote....and hold their noses? Realistically, they're going to end up doing the same thing either way, the only difference being whether or not one judges themselves or their civic duty by their willingness to engage in pointless theater.

Based upon what, any given parties campaign promises? You begin this thread with a reference to an expose on the emptiness of campaign promises.

Precisely.
Drumpf threatens to build a wall, cater to racists, tear up treaties, fail to support NATO allies, blow a gigantic hole in the budget, implement torture, kill the families of terrorists, put fascists on the supreme court, suppress voting, encourage the cops to shoot to kill, defund Planned Parenthood, and use his power to jail poltical opponents, among others.
You know what, I take him at his word. That's why I have already voted for Clinton.
Johnson is a putz and Stein is a nobody.

I think that you're going to be disappointed by anther term or two of "turns out we can't", and meanwhile we'll continue to do all of the absurd shit we would have done regardless of who ended up sitting at the desk, because no one is voting, this election, on anything other than fantasies. The bottom of the drain appears to be supreme court justices? Watch hillary put a big business shill or two on the bench. Why wouldn't she? Those are the interests she represents and it's easier to get them confirmed anyway. Bet she'll throw the far right a bone at the slightest hint of political resistance, too. She's only been doing it her entire career.
You voted for a hawkish republican in a blue dress, because you were worried about a wall that would never be built? When people offer me a choice between a shit sundae and a shit sandwich, same price...I just pass on both.

What was the choice? The potential wall builder or the putz or the nobody.
There was no choice except not to vote and that just helps Drumpf.
Can't do it.

People say that it helps Trump. It doesn't. Even winning the office wouldn't help him...build a wall, for example. The choice you missed is to refuse to participate. To refuse legitimizing the charade with your vote. They'll put -somebody- in the office whether you vote or not, and..like you said..it's not like there was any real choice to begin with. As it stands, though, when our girl hillary invades some other shithole country in search of more lucrative opportunities for profit - that shit's on you just as surely as it would be if you were a trump voter and he'd done it.
I hope that america gets tired of this "lesser of two evils" bullshit before they prop the next two turds up. That has to happn, or we can't legitimately bitch about things not changing. Consider the impotency of a president who wins at some fraction of a 13% turnout? Not much room to claim a public mandate...either nationally or globally. Yeah, we'd end up with a lame duck for a term....wouldn't be the first time. We keep getting this shit because we keep putting up with it.

The thing is, if you simply refuse to participate, they'll just assume you're lazy or ignorant. That's why I'm trying to think of a good fictional character to write in. I was leaning towards Big Bird.
