That's the thing though, Thena.  He WASN'T just talking about rape in the eyes of the law.  He went on to say that a person does not even have the right to look themselves in the mirror and say, "I was raped," even JUST to themselves privately, if the assault was never legally acknowledged as "rape" in a courtroom.  It seems to me that he wants to punish actual victims for some perceived failure on their part to demonstrate their allegation is truthful (legally), by stripping that word of any meaning for them personally.  As though our justice system is as infallible as he thinks his God is.  If I misunderstood him, then he did a really, really poor job of explaining himself, because I TRIED.

Well, I've already explained to Nymph that I'm not in agreement with him over all the particulars regarding the side issues and diversions; there were countless, and I didn't catch them all. His somewhat inept attempts at clarifying his position, coupled with my complete willingness to assume the worst about him, made it all too easy for me to not listen to him. 

What I do believe, is that his actual intent was to illustrate how vital timely reporting is to the process, and to offer his own "unique" help/advice on how to recover. It's crystal clear to me, after re-reading much of thread and making a conscious effort to be objective, but that's just my personal takeaway. I don't expect that everyone will reach the same conclusion.

I've never been in the situation, obviously, but all it takes is a little bit of empathy to know how hard it is to tell the world you have been violated. Even more so since there are usually lawyers lining up to nail you to "you had it coming". So there's another load of distress and public shaming having to deal with.

I told you i speak to everyone on an individual level. i made an opening statement to get people polarized then we could talk about whatever their individual concerns are.

ANYONE could have been objective here and saw the same things I saw. Saw the same changes in the story when the first version did not have the desired effect.

I have had the same basic argument from the beginning. NOTHING has changed. I have been pointing out the same facts from the beginning. NOTHING has changed. and when ever I take too much of the lead. I am re branded a monster. then everything resets.

I went back and carefully read the first twenty pages of this thread, a second time. Bottom line: I made a severe rush to judgment. While you demonstrated some lack of tact, and the ability to effectively convey your thoughts at times, I allowed some of the garbage you've posted in previous threads, my general opinion of you as of late, and yes, the emotionally charged nature of the subject matter, to essentially blind me to the fact that you actually weren't pushing a narrative of victim-blaming, victim-shaming, or denial.

Upon my second read, it's quite apparent that your assertion of "nothing happened" was solely in regards to the eyes of the law, upon the expiration of SOLs in a given state; NOT your personal belief that the mere passage of time readily indicates that any particular claim is automatically false. You were making a clear plea for victims to report the crime. Additionally, the reasons you gave as to why you believe SOLS are just and necessary as a matter of balancing the right's of victims with the right's of the accused, appeared to be a separate point of discussion altogether. I could expound on this a lot more, but suffice it to say that I was indeed quite wrong on the larger points; to a stunning degree.

Fucked up, isn't it? Why would you want to report a rape when you're going to be ridiculed. It's actually much easier to pretend it never happened and bring it up only with your therapist whenever it stings.

Or, for example like the Ched Evans case, you could always "prove" that your victim was "kinda kinky" and get off that way. Because of course, only virgins would ever get raped.
