Honestly I've had the same thought as Agenda on this, a lot of bad things may or may not end up occurring but Dems can turn it around for a big long term gain in a better direction if it's played right.

And playing it right includes running on more and better jobs and improving the economy. The number one issue for most people is financial security, once they have that or think they're headed in the right direction on it, they have the mental bandwidth for other issues.

It also means running a presidential candidate for 2020 who only has enough imperfection to seem human. Light on baggage, good plans, good record, good passion, empathetic, not too old, not too young, and wily and strong-willed enough to deal with campaigning against a Trump. We've got a couple of years to find that person.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

You know, the secret lies in manipulating these sentiments and fear. If done the right way it's the ticket to win elections.

I was rather surprised when reading a poll on populous sentiments recently. It pretty much mirrored the fear mongering that's going on right now in my country. The first concern was security, then border security, with job security coming in fourth or fifth.

That's not in any shape or form the real situation we find ourselves in. Criminality is on the same levels as it always was, but dropping below the poverty line and unemployment or underemployment are at an all time high. That's what the statistics say.

But the fear mongering machine of the extreme right constantly prays the mantra of being overrun by group X or Y if we don't take immediate action and try to remove them from society.
