I agree with this, btw. Just wanna know where FNM stands and how far he takes his "we shouldn't just abandon them" stance.

Yes. It's common sense that we're not going to let in people on terrorist watch lists, for example.

Can you explain what you mean by #2? I assume it doesn't mean you don't think anyone should ever get deported ever.
I'm saying that we shouldn't abandon people simply because they are here illegally. The people that don't have the means or resources to take the legal path to citizenship shouldn't be tossed out just because they didn't have the means or resources to take the legal path to citizenship. They should be given a chance to productive members of society.
So basically you're saying that we should regulate the borders, but that people who manage to trespass anyway should be allowed to stay so long as they haven't committed a crime. Is that what you're saying?

Yes, but the point being that many of these people are trying to escape desperate situations and don't have the means to go through the legal channels.

What do you think should happen to a migrant who refuses to integrate?

What do we do to natives who refuse to integrate? I don't give a shit whether or not Juan speaks proper english...I don't speak proper english either. Hell, I can;t undersatand most of the people in this country when they open their mouths. I see flags from all nations (and even defeated breakaways) all over the place. The music, don't even get me started on the "music"!
Refuse to integrate, what, exactly, do you mean?
@Cath.
Why, why should we do anything about people who are here trying to get a better life and not committing crimes? You keep saying "I think so and so is unreasonable" - not good enough. You'll have to point out what's unreasonable -about- it.

First, use a different word. Migrant can cover all of the above and more. As a specific question and you will be answered.

No, it's a loaded question by someone used to call refugees "rapefugees". So be specific. I made several distinctions above. Pick one or pick them all. Or simply read what I said above. The whole post. I already made myself pretty clear there.

And just to be clear, when I say "willing to be integrated" I mean willing to work, willing to make a decent life, willing to follow the law, etc. I don't mean willing to leave behind their culture or anything like that.

You;re describing illegals, then, Cath. Native born americans fail on those metrics at a greater rate than immigrants. Maybe it's -them- we should be deporting?
