You say "despite", but it seems likely that the declining bonuses are simply another one of those cost-cutting measures.

Same here, and the rate for the coverage is atrocious.

I've been at the same company for going on 18 years, and my salary has been flat since before 2008 - I've seen exactly one increase in that time (+0.75%) - in terms of actual dollars, it's been on a decline for 10+ years. Average review? No increase. Exceptional review? No increase. Hey, at least at the beginning of the year they told us explicitly that there wouldn't be any increases for the past or current year.

Yet, we're reporting record profits, and we're expected to fill the shoes of everyone they laid off last year.

Well, yeah. 

Last year's "bonus" was a joke. It might not have stung quite so much if the CEO hadn't arrived to break the news in his shiny new Maserati. The prick. Everything I've ever heard about his father leads me to believe that he would have been the first to feel some pain if there was any to pass around. But he had real leadership skills and was much beloved. He certainly wasn't crass enough to play it like his son did.

That's because he thinks all of you are cowards and will never seek another job. That's why he's shameless - because he has no fear. No consequences at all.

Those who do leave for better places will be replaced with anyone they can find - such under qualified rubes will be supported and dragged along by the cowards who stay at the company.

I worked in such an environment for an Arkansas company - they demoralized you so much that you never felt you could so better. Well I did go somewhere else - and it increased my salary significantly and proved to be the best environment yet.

You're chained because they've driven other companies out of business and convinced you that they're your only option.

It's like a toxic marriage.

They know you won't relocate. That you won't interview somewhere else. That you'll accept it because sunk cost fallacy.

Just like an abusive relationship.

Millions of Americans who voted for Donald Trump are expected to lose overtime pay rights soon after he is sworn in as president.

Tom Bonier, CEO of the polling firm Targetsmart, pointed out on Monday that “almost 20,000,000 Trump voters would lose time and a half overtime” under a Republican plan to reverse regulations put in place by President Barack Obama.
