My (probably unpopular) opinion on arab refugees

It's a very old idea.  I wonder how much of the notion is biological vs. conditioning vs reason.

A question I've never thought to ask...Do you have a dissenting voice in your head on the matter?  Or are all the neurons working as a team 100% on the bell always tolling for thee front?

First of all, let me be more objective from a political perspective: letting refugees in means putting your own people in danger. And we all know the many accidents that have occured in countries like Germany and Switzerland. If you as a government let refugees in and they hurt civilians, it is your responsability.

Objective? Many? Putting your people in danger? How come? What's your source on that? I would know if my neighbours would be overcome by what you call "accidents".

Yeah, same mindset my ancestors had to deal with. Just barr the doors and don't let 'em in. Some where lucky enough to find refuge in Hungary because they originally came from there. Two even made it to the USA. But they were prominent and not just some wayward jews. Most weren't as lucky.

You realise that precisely opposes the attitude that led to literally every innovation and social change that improved the welfare of the human race, right? Would you prefer us to go back to wiping our arses with leaves and have most of our offspring die in childbirth?

It is the other way around. It is pain and discomfort what causes people to move forward, invent, fight. If everything was nice and easy we would still be wiping our arses with leaves, just like you said.

Because it is. One of the select few where there aren't any grey areas. Plain and simple. If you refuse to help people in mortal danger you're not a very nice person. That should be obvious, regardless of where these people come from.

It's interesting you think of your world view as the happy one.  Feeling personally invested in every bad thing that happens to every other human on the planet?  That shit would get old, real quick.  It's no surprise so many of you are depressed.  

Maco and I differ on that front.  I don't view the world as a cold place.  It's just the world.  If you're lucky, it's pretty great.  If you're not, it's probably going to suck.  Personally, I like it.  And I've found the more I partake in obnoxious literary masturbation, the more my self-awareness increases, the more I can behave in a way that makes life enjoyable.  Perhaps, I got lucky with the sociopath thing, because my biology is on my side when it comes to seeking happiness.

I mentioned Biology-Conditioning-Reason before, and asked Thump about dissenting positions, because I think it's sort of a majority rules.  My Biology and Reason team up to defeat my Conditioning.  But for a lot of people, I think their Biology sides with their Conditioning which is too strong a force to not shape their reasoning.

Seems to me that entertaining two thoughts not necessarily in agreement is more complex than entertaining one thought, hence mu comment.

I'd disagree with your assessment of the opinions of others in this discussion, myself. I can see the nuance in their points.
