A movie that may appeal to the geeks amongst you.
"17 Again" ... my daughter's wanted to see it and I was, TBBH, dreading it as I was dragged to see it with the family. I don't mind romantic comedy's (OK, I love them) but this film starred "Zac Efrom" (apparently every teenage girl's fantasy) and was (I thought) a body swap film so I wasn't wildly enthusiastic.
First surprise was it also starred Matthew Perry (Chandler from "Friends") and it turned out that he (before he becomes young again, played by Efrom) is about to divorce his love-of-a-lifetime wife and is living with his millionaire friend and the two of them are total geeks. I'll try not to spoil it for you but if you like Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings you've a fighting chance of loving this film ... I came out of it not only having been thoroughly entertained but with a grudging measure of respect for Efrom as an actor.
And yeah, I am absolutely a geek and absolutely 100% proud of it.

Interesting Kyuu!
I've thought about seeing it. Looks like a bit of fun. I know my sister wants to go. Maybe I'll drop in with her and see if it's any good.
Haven't seen Twilight. Read the book, but the movie looks a little silly. Though perhaps I should see it before I judge.

I saw an advert for "17 again" and I couldn't help laughing my balls off - just because of the advert...
The style it was in and the voice over totally reminded of that South Park episode, the biggest douche in the universe one - where Rob Schneider is voiced over in trailers for different movies in that very style...
And then it kinda resorted to (paraphrasing): "Rob Schneider is a de derp dee derp da diddalee dum dee doo, da derp dee derp da didelee dum" or something like that - because they've basically saying that these movies are all the same.
paraphrasing, it's kind of like in my head when I saw that trailer "Zac Effron was just your normal average guy minding his own business when he suddenly became.....17 again! And he's about to find out....that being 17 again....is not all it's cracked up to be. De derp da derp da derp da derp, da derp da derp da diddly dum.. da dum da diddily dum da doo", etc, etc...
It doesn't really work in text so well lol, also not half as funny (or funny at all) if you haven't seen the South Park Ep and you have no idea what I'm talking about...
The style of voice over for that trailer reminded me so much of the Ep and I just found it....HILARIOUS, lmfao.
AND... - If it could turn out, even for me; to actually be a funny, good, or at least watchable film - the South Park reminder would just make it even better lol. Man, I love that Ep - it's the John Edward Psychic one The Biggest Douche in the Universe, awesome.

I haven't watched too many movies lately. Kinda a fan of older movies. I'm a sucker for love stories and/or tear jerkers, so if anyone can suggest any to me, I'll be thankful.
I used to just like action and comedy. They still have a place in my heart, but I'm just not in the mood for them lately.

Tastes change. I used to find music boring when I was a kid and have love games for years, and still do - I'm obsessed with them...
Then I became a music lover and for the last few years I can't play a game without listening to music.
And lately it's either all or nothing with gaming for me...if I can't game regularly and consistently then I'm happy just listening to music (while I do other things of course).
Although I am still frustrated without games, before music was nothing for me - now it's a huge part of my life...
I've had more albums in the last 3 years than in the rest of my life.....
In fact I basically had no albums before 3 or 4 years ago!
I had a single when I was about...12 (I'm an album buyer now, I think that's the only single I've basically ever had).
I've always films though - always depends on the films though, and I prefer comedy series generally (I also love House and QI, among some other progs).
So yeah, tastes change. I always thought that my tastes would always be the same because I was so sure of them - they still changed, I was wrong. Although I'm even more sure of a lot of my tastes now, I don't entirely rule out the chance of them changing around a lot yet again.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this movie because I haven't read the whole thread...But did anyone see Knowing, with Nicholas Cage?
It was alright...interesting. At the beginning Nicholas appears to be an atheist, but at the end it got really strange and religious.
Oh yeah and I watched this really odd movie the other night on fearnet called Tamara.
It was about this ugly girl in high school who gets picked on a lot and she's into like witchcraft and stuff. She dies and comes back to life due to this spell, and she controls people and makes them kill themselves and weird shit like that.
Like she told her dad, "If you loved mom as much as you love that bottle, maybe she wouldn't have left." so then her dad eats the glass beer bottles and dies on the kitchen floor with his throat all cut up.
It was a stupid movie, but I enjoyed watching it...lol

Quote:Hated "Knowing",although critics here raved about it. That it stars Nicholas Cage should have been a enough of a warning to avoid it.
Speaking of crap movies "Angels and Demons" is out. I was unable to sit through "The Da Vinci Code".Hollywood managed to do something I thought was impossible;they made it worse than the book. I've also read "Angels And Demons" 'and thought it was marginally better than "The Da Vinci Code [as a book]. I don't have high expectations of the new movie, but will probably try to watch it on video..

Two films that I got and watched in HD recently were Tropic Thunder and Milk. I'd watched Tropic Thunder before and it is a hilarious movie. Robert Downey Jr. was simply unbelievable in it, and Jack Black / Ben Stiller made the movie complete.
Milk was a touching story, and had great bits that made your hair stand on end from excitement (like the scene where Proposition 6 fails at the polls). It's a great drama/doc but I personally think they shouldn't have shown Milk get shot at the end. The whole thing about the death was that nobody was witness to it, so I would have preferred to see White enter Milk's office, then heard the confrontation and shots from behind the closed door. Ah well, it was at the end of the movie so it didn't spoil the majority of it
