All I Want For Christmas..

I cooked with it for the first time today. Cooked some oven chips (fat British french fries to you Muricans Chips as in Fish and Chips ).

Yay! I'm glad it wasn't overwhelming. It's just a sideways toaster. You can cook loads in it, but I think you'll find toasted sandwiches are quite nice from a toaster oven. My sister uses hers for cookies, veggies and everything in-between. Well, except meat. She's a veggie.

I heard I did pretty good on some gifting, and the warm fuzzy is quite a nice Christmas present for moi.

Took some friends out for steaks last week, and during the meal, the conversation drifted towards the decline in quality at the local grocers meat dept.

I chuckled under my breath, I had in the back of the SUV an additional present for my supper guests; a large gift box of a dozen individually vacuum sealed and flash frozen aged prime steaks.

They were so surprised, and I was so happy knowing before giving them the steaks that it was going to be a really appreciated gift.


Additionally, since the unfortunate blood sugar results from my recent checkup, I was stuck with quite a pile of ingredients for some rather lethal caramels.  I went ahead and made them and passed them on at 12 Steppers and I dare say it was a caramel massacre.

(for those of you who don't know, 12 Steppers are almost invariably sugar fiends, and bringing caramels to the assembled  masses was like flinging crippled  goats into the lion cage at the zoo)

It's as true for narcotics as alcohol. I learned that when I was staying in a mixed ward for some anxiety I was having. There was an anything she could get her hands on addict who would dump like fourteen sugars into her small styrofoam cup of coffee every morning. I got the jitters just looking at her.

I think I am taking my sugar restriction pretty well so far.

In a month, I've only stabbed 2 people in the throat . . . .

I tried to restrict my sugar intake. I binged and gave up. I'm pathetic, really.

I don't add sugar or salt to anything.

I do tend to have 2-6 spoons of coffee in my mug though

I miss it, and miss it bad.

Compensating with meat.  Lotsa meat.  I'm trying to sell it to myself as an 'upgrade'.  So far it's working.

Also, hate to admit it, but I feel better, especially first thing in the morning.  Id say the improvement is 4X anything I'd see from placebo effect.

Yeah, sugar is addictive and bad for you. No doubt about it.
