Jesus did not rise from the dead -- My debate opening statement.

You have never answered my principle objection to the resurrection of Jesus as I outlined in my OP, namely, the following:

Quote:If I reject alien abductions (and, I do), even given the plethora of evidences, both testimonial and physical for them, why, then, should I accept the so-called resurrection of Jesus from the dead?

Answer this question for me, Drich, and I'll convert, publicly on this board, to whatever brand of Protestantism that you subscribe to.

Haven't read this entire post, time in limited. However I will respond to your question.

Whether alien abduction is real or manufactured holds zero sway if a God exists that holds supreme authority over our lives, or how and where you will spend eternity. Moreover, the aliens nor their abductees make claims to be the Creator of the universe and all that would entail.

Christ does, and His resurrection would be one of many factors to consider to authenticate this.

Welcome to the club my brother.

Good job as always Drich.

Barring the fact that you seemingly only went to a Nondenominational pseudo-christian church is because of some “hot chick,” and a subsequent “hot chick” of whom you eventually married later on, whereas you didn’t attend said church for the reason you’re supposed to be there in the first place.
Reallyy?!?!? then please explain (book chapter and verse) the reasons one must have to attend church..

Quote: That is, to be brainwashed with selective narratives to swallow a primitive faith that if followed to the letter, you would be in prison for life.
Guess i should have kept reading...

So it seems by your recogning that I perhaps went into a church setting with a measure of skepticism and a level of objectivity that others who were attending said church, did not have???

I would agree.

So tell me again how this is supposed to be a bad thing?

Quote: Your laughable beginnings in being a pseudo-christian will not bode well for you in our debate on the alleged BIBLE Jesus’ existence.
why not?

If I went into church expecting to find nothing but a date at taco bell afterwards, and I do indeed find Christ even under the scrutiny I brought, then is it not possible what I found was legit?

Quote:MODERATORS, CAN YOU GIVE DRICH AND MYSELF A THREAD THAT WILL PREVENT OUTSIDE SOURCES FROM ENTERING OUR DISCUSSION, THEREFORE TO KEEP OUT THE SIDELINE NIBBLERS AND THEIR IRRELATIVE INSIPID CHILD LIKE RESPONSES THAT HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TOPIC AT HAND, BUT TO ONLY SHOW THEIR IGNORANCE OF SAID TOPIC?

Drich, stick around and don't run away, okay?  I promise you a great time, but at your expense.

It's been three threads and you keep promising, I am still waiting...

Since your new, and really don't know me so well.. Maybe you can take some inspiration from the old gaurd.
here is 67+ pages anger and hate poured out on me. by just about everyone, minus a hand full of people.
http://atheistforums.org/thread-45803.html
Somehow I'm still here without breaking any rules or loosing my mind. Yet the rest of the board seemed to have lost it's collective mind, because they could not silence me. Most did not like what I had to say, and I cut off any legitimate way to shut me down, and this collective effort was an attempt to do what you are going to do on your own.

Seriously... Read it. I addressed everyone line by line and on point if they had something topical to say. And I did not loose my mind doing it.

Honestly sport, what are you truly going to bring to me that has not already fallen at my feet?

I have been doing this a very long time on line. So just in that, I have just experience you simply do not (evidenced by your unsupported puffer fishing you are doing with your font and peacocking) Nothing to say... just make it colorful/use red as it is a danger color, and make your words bigger than mine. That is all you've done. I've address harder question from second graders. Seriously.. is this it?

Then there's the whole God Thing...

IF I am who I say I am (A simple servant of God) then you are also having to contend with the support he provides me as well. (kinda like you peers did and failed.)

So stop the empty threats and Bring it sport, because i will be swinging for the fences with you.

Yeah, Drich, you're such a hard-done-by martyr, and this entire forum is built around you. Seriously, you should see the Staff forum - you are the centre of every single conversation there.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I still don't understand why you think that your religion is to be believed beyond all others, say, Islam or Hinduism.  But, I agree with you, that the existence of God (in particular, the Christian God) is independent of aliens abducting individuals from this World.  But, still, I find the evidence for the so-called resurrection of Jesus from the dead to be poor, at best.  I see no reason whatsoever to take it seriously, and given that the evidence for alien abductions is far greater than that of Jesus' resurrection, I see no reason to take it seriously at all.

what is my argument? you don't seem to understand it, or you don't understand the other religions you just mentioned.

If Jesus truly raised people from a state of clinical death back to life, then someone like Josephus would have taken note of it.  He took notice of a whole plethora of other events and happenings in Palestine, "idle gossip" to quote one scholar.  Why didn't Josephus, in his 21 volumes, mention Jesus more, other than a few passing references???

Quote:Ascension to the afterlife is not an invention of Christianity. It's version only popularized a new version of hero worship.

Quote:[1.16]After these immortal achievements, Romulus held a review of his army at the "Caprae Palus" in the Campus Martius. A violent thunderstorm suddenly arose and enveloped the king in so dense a cloud that he was quite invisible to the assembly. From that hour Romulus was no longer seen on earth. When the fears of the Roman youth were allayed by the return of bright, calm sunshine after such fearful weather, they saw that the royal seat was vacant. Whilst they fully believed the assertion of the senators, who had been standing close to him, that he had been snatched away to heaven by a whirlwind, still, like men suddenly bereaved, fear and grief kept them for some time speechless. At length, after a few had taken the initiative, the whole of those present hailed Romulus as "a god, the son of a god, the King and Father of the City of Rome."

And, Livy is widely regarded by modern scholars as being a very reliable historian.  Perhaps we need to worship Romulus?

Drich,

In reference to your post within this thread, #92.

YOUR MISINTERPRETATION OF WHAT I SAID QUOTE:  "Reallyy?!?!? then please explain (book chapter and verse) the reasons one
must have to attend church.."

ICON’S REFUTATION:  Uh, I didn’t say you had to attend your “division” of a church, I said that since you went, you went
for the wrong reason. Get it? I am sure your serial killing Jesus would agree that you're not to go to church to pick up "hot chicks!"

In any event, to appease your blatant biblical ignorance, I will answer your question where it is better for the inept pseudo-christian like you
to attend your “division” of a church:

"Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to
his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him
ith strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!” (Psalm 150: 1-6)

I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God,
which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth.” (1 Timothy 3: 14-15)

If you need anymore passages concerning your ignorance on this topic, or any other, let me know, I’ll add more embarrassing egg upon your face, okay?

YOUR VERY REVEALING QUOTE OF PEEING IN YOUR PANTS:  "It's been three threads and you keep promising, I am still waiting…"

Since your new, and really don't know me so well.. Maybe you can take some inspiration from the old gaurd.

ICON’S REFUTATION:  Wow, already acquiescing and trying in vain to lay the groundwork of why I am not suppose to debate you on whether the
preponderance of the existing evidence shows that the BIBLE Jesus did not exist? Already looking for excuses to RUN?!

ROFLOL

In simple terms so your inept pseudo-christian mind can understand, in your presumed past of coming out of discussions with Atheists unscathed is moot,
that was the past, and this is now, and you have yet to debate me on this specific topic, or any other pseudo-christian topics, understood?

There is no threats, because your biblical and historical ignorance along with your pseudo-christian insidious apologetic spin will be shown at your expense.
I am trying to get the moderators to give us a thread of our own so no sideline nibblers will be present, of which will help show you to be one of the most
ignorant of any pseudo-christian within this forum, get it?

I can see already that I will be using a “spell check” for your wanting refutations, of which, you take the cake is misspellings, which is subjectively worse
than any color of font that I will be using to make your ignorance and stupidity stand out.

Of notice, you're really ignorant relative to your primitive Bronze and Iron Age cultist Christian faith as has been shown ad infinitum within just
our discussions.  I'll try and give you some slack because of this fact, okay?  You can thank me at that time.

Welcome to the club my brother.

Good job as always Drich.

To show that Jesus was indeed god and rose from the dead you need to provide evidence of same. The only evidence you have points to the bible writers being willing to lie, twist jewish scripture and even make shit up off the top of their heads in order to sell a fiction to the gullible.

Hell, we don't believe in Apollonius of Tyana and he has far more ging for him in terms of evidence (for one thing we've plenty of independent verification that he both existed and preached a new religion).
