End of Portuguese slavery; I'm basing it off the Portuguese port of Zanzibar being the most notorious centre for the slave trade in the Indian Ocean until it's annexation by British forces in 1890 as part of the Minto Plan.
However on closer inspection it appears that the slave trade ended there in 1873, that may be because the European customers dried up around that time, though I think the Ottomans were still trading.
The Portuguese were signatories to the Brussels Conference Act 1890.

I'm just amused at Christians who look at their god's Rube Goldberg salvation scheme and think it represents the outcome of a loving, all-knowing, and all-powerful being's careful deliberation, rather than the primitive sacrificial scheme, dreamed up by humans, that it is.

To say that a human process was used in determining what would be contained in the bible or what the dominant viewpoint would be is not showing that the result was not inspired by God. The fact that there was and is disagreement among christians does not show that the bible is not inspired. It just shows God brought about his plan through the workings of humanity.

As I said on a different thread, one of the double standards I see among some people here (not all) is that they are quick to attribute a person's bad actions to their religious beliefs. But when a person does something good after being inspired/influenced by their religious beliefs to do so, all of the sudden religion has nothing to do with that person's actions.
