I understand this completely, I'm sure I would consider paying because the life of a child is worth more than all the money in the world, except to the kidnappers they put a price on that life and in doing so shows they care little for life. If people in the past had never paid any kidnapper, that is no kidnapper has ever received a penny, do you think people today would believe they could get any money for such a crime?
I'm not trying to tell anyone what they should do, that's a decision that they would have to make. I'm trying to show how we as the human race could act to prevent such horrible crimes. If we do not reward criminals they will stop this kind of behavior. I have no statistics on this, however it seems this kind of crime is down because the criminals have found a less risky way to earn money from kidnapping, selling the child into the sex slave trade. They sale to like criminals so they know they have little to worry about because their fellow criminal want tell on them that wouldn't be mutually beneficial to either party. This is why the sex slave trade thrives, dealing with there own kind keeps them out of the eyes of the law. A child disappears, they see runaways every day and so many they can't begin to investigate all those cases.

So, what you're saying is....
Refusing to pay, leaves the terrorists/kidnappers/common criminals in the position of considering the more lucrative practice of selling children/captives into sex slavery?
Mon dieu! That doesn't sound like much of an improvement, does it?
Think about it!
And I certainly I wouldn't consider complying with terrorists' demands to be rewarding them; not when practiced as a private citizen . Under those circumstances, I consider payment to be an act of desperation/survival; more akin to surrendering your keys to someone who shoves a gun in your face, and tells you to get the f*ck out of your car.

If you were kidnapped by terrorists, what would you want others to do for you?
I'd want them to get me out.
Not the most noble answer, I'm sure. But the honest one.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Exactly. And I for one don't buy the "noble" response from anyone not having been there.

Terrorists would let me go within 5 minutes of holding me hostage. Either that or they'd kill me and say "fuck the money"
Also GC assumes I'd be a 'jailbird', but let's be honest. I'm not getting caught. You can't prove anything if you can't find a body.

No, I was saying that if we had never started the criminals would see no use in trying to kidnap. The criminal has found a safer way to sale people. As to whether they would have arrived at the idea of the sex slave trade I don't know. What I do know is this, people stop paying for sex and no sex slave trade. Do you see the connection, greed, self interest, the world needs far more love and a lot less self interest.

Throw the keys as far away as possible, does he shot you not likely, murder charges and nothing to show for it criminals are not stupid they're lazy.
What do you do if your child is already in the car, you going to turn the car over to the criminal?

The prisons are full of people with that very same thought, I doubt any of them thought they would get caught. Besides what makes you believe you can get near the info on the criminals the police can. You watch to many action movies.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

lol wtf!
Also no, rob, I would not. If it was me I would hope my family would figure out a way to get me out without paying them if not I'd gladly fight them until they killed me.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.
It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.
Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll
