What is up with the disdain Republicans have towards educational institutes?

RE: What is up with the disdain Republicans have towards educational institutes?
It's been said very well by others so I won't babble for too long.

Trump and his ilk dislike education because they know educated people tend to be more independent and questioning than those with little or no higher education.  It's how the religious institutions have tried, for centuries, to stop certain segments of society from getting educated, whether it be dark skinned people in slave and segregation era America, or women in other societies.

And the stereotypes are just a way of painting something they don't like, or understand, with the same brush, to justify their disdain.  We've seen it throughout history and we're seeing it now.

Yes, we all stereotype groups.  Some of it is mostly harmless: picturing Star Trek fans as a bunch of lonely virgins with no life or social skills (I do it, and I'm a Trekkie).  Other kinds (I hate using that word - reminds me of creation-babble) are not harmless, as the stereotyping is used to justify hatred for a group.

Republicans hate Educational Institutes because they hate their money going toward anything that might benefit the poor. In fact the only things they're okay with their money going toward are: Rich people, Blowing stuff up, and Corporations. And schools aren't any of those things.

They also hate them because they hate pesky things like facts. I mean how else do you explain they still believe in silly things like Trickle Down Economics. You have to be an idiot to believe in trickle down, and what better way to create idiots than convince everyone who might become 'not an idiot' that educational institutes (which help make people not be idiots) are 'evil'

I'm a republican, and certainly understand the dislike of the stereotypical liberal campus.

A lot of the kids wrap their identity so heavily in the cause/rhetoric/philosophy that it's just dumb. But it makes sense. Kids are out on their own, trying to find some meaning/identity/kinship, and politics is as good a cult as any. You get to think you're better than people, be preachy, you can justify being an asshole, and do it all with your friends. And if you like it enough, maybe you become a professor there.

College age kids, in my anecdotal experience, REALLY want to find importance in things they do. Whether it's some shitty podcast, or going to the gym, or their political opinions. But then they get older, and life keeps them busy, and things get a lot more practical than philosophical, and a lot of that goes away. Which is probably why the 18-24 group always seems to slowly slide more red.

Public schools are racist. How dare they split them up by neighborhood, basically segregating the populations! I shall protest!!!

Turns to:

Fuck that shit, I'm not sending my kid to the school where the 4th grader stabbed their teacher.

(March 21, 2017 at 5:34 pm)It_Was_me Wrote: I'm currently a college student attending University of Arizona. I'm majoring in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have noticed though that whenever I come across Trump supporters on the internet with sites like Facebook. They tend to attack my educational credentials. A common one I hear is that "I have been indoctrinated". They also tend to assume I'm a "snowflake" or an "SJW". When in reality I am none of those things. I have been involved with higher education for a total of 7 years this summer. I spent 5 years in community college and I have been at University for over a year now. However, not once have I EVER come across these stereotypes. Nor have I come across that one professor who is a "communist". lol

I just have to ask: where do they get these stereotypes from? Also, why do they seem to despise higher education? That is of course it's Liberty University. Do they just hate it knowing that college kids learn the truth about the world? I mean I understand, some Universities around the country have some extreme Liberals there, but still. I honestly doubt it's as bad as they make it out to be. The only instances of this happening that I recall was at Yale and UC-B.

Oh yeah my favorite is when they tell me "I'm wasting my money". haha

Ask yourself these questions

1. Why do republicans pander so evangelicals?

2. Why do republicans pander to the rural religious crouds?

3. Why do republicans pander to christians?

4. Why is evangelism and christianity dying.

if you can answer those questions then congrats there is your anwer
