Shotgun's aren't sidearms anymore so people aren't running around like overpowered assholes. Plus there's only one shotgun which you can dual weild, and it's fucking terrible.

I still remember the first time I was in control of the warthog. Mate on the back firing away at the covenant. The rechargeable health system which is mainstay in most FPS now. Plus you could chuck a grenade out or melee without changing weapon( big deal back then) And the 2 person campaign co-op.
The gameplay was fast and frantic. amazing baddies. cool weapons and an amazing soundtrack. It popularised the genre.
Didn't like it and thought compared to the Unreal games it was weak. But, to each his own.

CoD 2 was the first great multiplayer game for the the current generation, and MW was one of the all time greatest multiplayer games period. The Battlefield series as whole, however, is better.

Bioshock and Oblivion. I've tried Oblivion twice now and after a few hours I'm just fed up with it. Some of the side missions were somewhat interesting, but couldn't keep me entertained for long.

I think it depends what you expect from oblivion. To most people it looks like a first person shooter with swords and bows and arrows. It is not. It is an RPG and pretty much everyone I know who says oblivion is crap doesn't play it like it's an RPG. They play it like it's call of duty.

When I started playing I didn't expect anything as I had no idea what it was about, it came bundled with Bioshock (the first one) as a 2 for 1 deal. But after the second time I started playing I decided it is not for me. And I don't play CoD.

I HATED oblivion when i first played it. spent hours walking about without knowing what to do. I went back to it after fallout and loved it. Can't wait for SKyrim

Wait, so you have to know what a game is about before you can like it? Even though you have never played it? Sense that does not make.
I loved that game and I played it like it was an FPS. I marauded around the countryside killing badies and when I felt like it I engaged in the storyline. Good times, much like the way I played Fallout 3.

Maybe, but I mostly don't like games set in "real-world" situations. I will straight fuck you up in Unreal Tournament 2004 however.

What I meant was that oblivion is very much an RPG, and from my experience anyone who plays an RPG without prior RPG experience doesn't really get involved with the game or what it's meant to be about. That's not to say you can't get into RPG's if you haven't played them before, it's just more difficult than with other games. I could be wrong in leo's case I don't know, but that's my bet as to why he doesn't connect with the game so much.

I don't doubt you can play the game however the fuck you want. I'm just saying some people won't get it because they may not have played anything like it before. This is certainly why people who I know don't like it. They've never played RPG's and as such they compare it to other adventure games/hack and slash games. It's a pretty good bet that if you haven't played an elder scrolls game before, or bethesda game for that matter, and play it without knowing what to expect and then ending up not liking it, it's probably because you didn't understand what the point of the game was in the first place.
An example if you will of a previous elder scrolls game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt5YKmP7ecY
Here the guy didn't originally like it because he didn't 'get it'. Hence my point.
All that said, he might just not like it for gameplay reasons, or storyline, or graphics or whatever else. It's just from my experience that the only people who don't like Elder Scrolls are people who don't get it.

Maybe so, but I would rape your ass on black ops
