Do they still make that candy the was little hard candy dots stuck on a roll of paper? Candy Buttons. You would tear off a strip at the candy store. When you ate it there was always paper stuck to the back of the candy. What an abomination.

It's probably the only candy that helps with a daily fiber intake.

I don't much care for any sweets any more, but when younger, I bloody hated licorice. And marshmallows. And what the hell are circus peanuts but repackaged toxic waste? Brian's right about fragrant candies; they're horseshit. Jellybeans suck, too.
Butterfingers, however ... they have their uses.

Yes I had some Hershey and it tasted stale Oreos tasted salty. All American sweets seem to taste horrible.
Have they never had a sweet before? do they not know that they are supposed to be nice? Is it something to do with being overwhelmingly Christian and the desire to suffer?

Believe it or not, there are decent American sweets. Ghiradelli's has already been mentioned; they make good chocolate. Like many other American experiences, you'll have to get away from the mass-produced stuff in order to find the best things.
It's a function of being a large country; when serving a huge population, the pressure to approach the lowest common denominator and maximize profit is nigh inexorable.

CANDY CORN, fuck that, I'd rather be waterboarded.
Peppermint. Not so bad if you don't leave them out for decades. I see that shit everywhere, why don't simply say, "I want to pretend to be nice but really I am saying "fuck you".
Christmas fruitcake. JUST FUCKING SHOOT ME.
Butterscotch, NO FUCKING SCOTCH IN IT.
Butterfinger candy bar? Seriously, how fucked up are your taste buds?
I swear all that shit above should be banned from the planet.
What candies do you barf at the thought of?
I don't like fruitcake or peeps but everything else you mentioned I adore. Seriously candy corn and butterscotch are my favorite. Lol then again I like pineapple on pizza so apparently I have bad taste according to the internet.
I also really love Hershey chocolate... Y'all are hating on everything I love.

Hershey's is ok, but I will never go to that Amusement park ever again. My mom took me there when I was a kid, and the smell was overwhelming. I was sick by the time I left, had a huge headache too.

I actually remember candy cigarettes when I was a kid - basically white sticks of sugar shaped to look like cigarettes and sold in a little box that looked like a cigarette pack. We would hold them like the adults held their real cigarettes.
Oh, the good old days. I wonder what happened to candy cigarettes?
