I remember when I lived in Texas multiple conversations with people telling me how weak and awful the UK must be because of our very strong gun laws. When I pointed out the massive discrepancy in gun related deaths between the two nations it just seemed to bounce off them. But then I was also told on 2 occasions that the UK is a communist country. This was in approximately 2012/2013 when we had a very austere Conservative right wing government. Not to mention the fact that a communist party has never ruled in the UK, some very socialist governments and communist sympathies for sure, but we have been a parliamentary democracy for rather a long time, again this info just seemed to bounce off my interlocutors.

You have to remember that very, very few people can say they were educated in Texas. Most would have to leave the state to get an education.
