It just doesn't grant you the right to take your pistol into someones diner, or a subway car, and it doesn't deputize you as Sheriff Shit for Brains. But hey, you'll figure that out if you ever end up getting your shot at being a hero. I'm just glad, for the sake of whomever may be within gunshot of you, that it hasn't happened yet.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
Sure it does. "Keep" is pretty definitive.

You're probably going to want to find a lawyer, if that day ever comes. I wouldn't trust my freedom to that defense. You wouldn't be the first...you wouldn't even be the first in this thread. It just doesn't turn out the way you're expecting. Have a look for yourself.

There's a lawful and unlawful manner to do most things. I have a concealed carry license and if it's not posted on the door, it's 100% legal with exceptions to a only a few places. Only had to pull it once and that was on a back road with a rather pissed off German shepherd. I have a holster strapped to my road bike. Dog bit me, stopped the dog, the owners got ticketed, and I was offered a bottle of water before I road home. Not 100% sure how I'd handle it with another human, but it's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Hope I never need it though.
I'm not going to change anyone's mind, but.... Have you ever noticed that the states and cities with the strictest firearm restrictions have the highest level of violent firearm crimes and incidents? If people were getting shot at a higher than average rate in my city, and I were empowered to do so, I'd pass stricter regulations too. Fun fact, the second amendment doesn't prevent us from doing that, as evidenced by those very cities you just referenced. The constitution actually -requires- that we do that, in order to protect the rights of the citizens of that city, not the least of which...life.
What's notable about that? In any case, you have a pistol for a comfort blanky - unsurprising. Second amendment doesn't grant you that right either.
