I'm almost regretting having read them because now I don't know what the hell in supposed to do with myself until the next book comes out. It could be years before I find out what happens next. Or it could never happen...I've heard the author is old and is working on other books right now.And then... some of us have read them a while back ago.... all this waiting is making me forget the books... ![]() (August 10, 2017 at 11:04 pm)Losty Wrote: I'm trying to decide if I should watch the show or not. I kind of don't want to because I highly doubt the tv series can give me as good of an ending as the books will. I also heard that the show isn't the same as the books. But then...I feel like I'll go insane if I don't find out what happens. Are you other book readers going as crazy as I am? Season 1 is pretty faithful to the books. Season 2 starts deviating somewhat.... Season 3 comes back a bit. Seasons 4 and 5 follow books 4 and 5, but in proper chronological order, instead of character order like in the books - damn, book 4 was the worst! At times, it felt like nothing was happening... Cersei this, Cersei that.... bah! I wanted Tyrion!!! wait for book 5! Season 6 went beyond most of the book content, except for a few storylines. Season 7 is totally beyond the books. Like SC said, some characters have been condensed, some storylines have been changed a bit... some characters that seem unknown in the books, we immediately recognize in the show (wink, wink, Reek). It's nice to see them side by side.... but may lead to confusion in your mind! ![]() (August 11, 2017 at 6:57 am)pocaracas Wrote: book 4 was the worst! At times, it felt like nothing was happening... Aeron Damphair and the Kingsmoot! Brienne! Sansa/Alayne! Arya/Cat of the Canals! Sho much plot advancement, so much story. You know nothing, Pedro!
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

Parallel plots, yes... but not the ones that made me keep reading... Not the plot that kicks off the whole story, beyond the wall... I remember little from book 4... it was that hard to get through it... ![]()
Book 4 was definitely slower, but I loved it. It was more about the world than the specific characters. It gave you a better idea of how the war was affecting the smallfolk, the lives of the unnamed masses, etc. A lot of world-building, not a whole lot of story/character progression (though there is some). It's definitely not for everyone, and I can see why some people don't like it, but I did!
