I've always loved the song "Halleluja". It has been done so many times (by so many people) I can't count, but this is probably my favorite rendition.
Me too!
Are you familiar with KD Lang's cover?

I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I am a sucker for the religious works by Handel (The Messiah) and Bach (Mass in B Minor, St Matthew Passion, Christmas Oratorio and St John Passion). I know it is Christian music, however it so damn good.

I know it is Christian music, however it so damn good. Tell me about it. For a few years straight, I spent every Good Friday listening to the whole St. Matthew Passion. I only stopped because after college, school stopped letting us not go to school on Good Friday.

Favourite "religious" song?

Kinda of an odd answer but I believe it fits. When I'm at home or somewhere playing organ. I tend to lean towards religious music and always get odd looks from friends or people who know how I am on religion. For me it's nothing about the lyrics. The songs just have an amazing sound and feel to them.

Religious song?

Okay okay......

Someones opinion on the lyrics:
Jesus wants us to proclaim His name before we're dead and it's too late.
Remember Omerta: "free speech for the living/ dead men tell no tales."
Sermon sung me slow to sleep
Faster if I had a choice
Meaning: Jesus experienced a slow and painful death on the cross.
With every breath another death
Still so in love with your own voice
Meaning: Jesus is God in human form, and every breath on the cross is extremely painful. Mankind killed Him with our sins (including our lies, or our VOICES).
Idle threats to hide regrets
Excuses serve to bide the time
Meaning: Mankind's lies killed Jesus. Remember lying is a sin.
Cover tracks, double back
We summon silence so divine
Meaning: We are all one body in Christ, so we really sealed our own fate when we killed Christ with our sins. Now we have to die in order for God's love to redeem us.
Greeted with a thundering
absence of applause
Meaning: When Jesus was dying on the cross, the crowd of people was shouting and cursing at Him.
Choke on your own words
Lies are venom in your veins
Burn from the inside
And never speak my name
Meaning: Jesus' choking death is our choking death. Jesus is in us all, because He loves us. However, we are sinners. We are dying because of our own lies (sins). We will die. After we die, we will never speak Jesus' name, so it will be too late to spread His word.
Jesus complex, gag reflex
Trigger happy redundancy
Meaning: We all killed Jesus with our sins. Each sin is like pulling a trigger aimed at Jesus. We are all guilty.
No thrill, no chase, no saving grace
Hypnotic in monotony
Meaning: Mary the mother of God is the only person who achieved saving grace in her assumption into heaven (body AND soul). As for the rest of us, we are pathetic sinners who are "hypnotic in monotony." At least God still loves us.
Loaded with a salt rock shot
You say you're everything you're not
Meaning: Every sin shoots Jesus with a symbolic salt rock, killing Him slowly and stinging His wounds. His death on the cross is all of our faults, because we are all sinners.
What might have been is all you've got
From here and now you're dead to me
Meaning: It didn't have to be this way, but because we've sinned, Jesus has to die on the cross. Now we have to take up our crosses and follow Him if we hope to be saved.
Greeted with a thunderous
absence of applause
Meaning: All the people shouting and cursing at Him when he's dying on the cross.
Choke on your own words
Lies are venom in your veins
Burn from the inside
And never speak my name
Meaning: Again, Jesus' choking death is our choking death. Jesus is in us all, because He loves us. However, we are all sinners. We are dying because of our own lies, or sins. We will die. After we die, we will never speak Jesus' name, so it will be too late to spread His word.
Nothing will ever erase
Or undo your disgrace
Meaning: Unlike Mary, who is full of grace, we are all full of disgrace.
A lonely self-embrace
They've long forgotten you
Meaning: Remember we're all one body in Christ. Jesus' arms were spread out when He was dying on the cross, almost like an embrace. No one embraced Him back. We all killed Him with our sins. However, we are all a special part of Jesus, so His lonely self-embrace is our lonely self-embrace.
Still cling to what it was
A lost and hopeless cause
Meaning: Jesus had to fight through the pain even though it seemed hopeless. He was God, but He was in human form. He had fear and doubt just like any one of us. It all seemed hopeless to Him, but He fought on anyway. By following Him, we have to "cling" to this "hopeless cause" as well.
Forever mourning your loss
They've long forgotten you
Meaning: Jesus' teachings didn't start spreading around the world until after His death and resurrection. Even then, people still sinned and will always sin. We have all lost touch with God's plan. We need to realize that we are all part of God. Forgetting God is actually forgetting our own purpose in life.
Murdered slowly in minute
increments of time
Pissing up a rope
Another moment passes by
Meaning: Just like Jesus died slowly, we are all dying slowly in some way. Jesus is in all of us, and we are in Him. We are His body, and He loves us.
Choke on your own words
Lies are venom in your veins
Burn from the inside
And never speak my name
Meaning: Once again, Jesus' choking death is our choking death. Jesus is in us all, because He loves us. However, we are all sinners. We are dying because of our own lies, or sins. We will die. After we die, we will never speak Jesus' name, so it will be too late to spread His word.
Kind Regards,
Citereh

One of my favourite Beatles tracks..." Let it Be ".
A man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?
