One thing that would definitely be lacking in a group of 'experts' is a fresh set of eyes. Given I believe psychology plays a big part in this puzzle, historians and theologians alone might not be enough.

In this thread I have put forward my belief that

1. the massive Santorini volcanic eruption happened just before the supposed Exodus.
2. Yahweh was a volcano or volcanoes
3. that the Hebrews started out as Habiru (hence the reason for no evidence in Egypt)
4. that Mount Sinai was not in the Sinai Peninsular but in either Jordan or Saudi Arabia
5. that the area between the Northern most point of the Gulf of Aqaba and the Southern most point of the Dead Sea is a very precarious area where tectonic plates overlap, historically producing volcanic activity.
6. all three monotheistic religions COULD have started out due to terrifying natural occurances that the people of the day had no prior understanding of.

Now, I know I'm just some hill billy trampling all over your chosen subject but surely I have come up with at least one new thing. Or are you trying to say that nothing I have said is new to you? Nothing? Well even if it's all old hat to you (liar!) I'm sure some other people will have found it partly interesting.

Actually they have. That's what we've been trying to tell you. And yes, each of the points of your theory have been tossed around before. All options were once open, anything could have been the truth (even a literal exodus). The model we have now is what we are left with when the evidence we do have eliminates any given scenario.

UNTIL

You go dig a hole (or anyone interested in this), and provide evidence. The thing is, if we dug a hole for every idea that we ever had, we wouldn't have much ground left to stand on. There has to be a point at which you make a value judgement. You weigh what you do know, against what you are suspicious that you might not know, and see how your theory fits. How do you know what you don't know? You don't, that's why evidence is so critical.

I shouldn't have to explain this to you, but science thrives on attempts to debunk. It isn't that someone happens acrossed a brilliant theory and it looks okay; so we call it a law. Attempts are made to debunk every single part of this theory, to invalidate it's conclusions. It's not the guy that jumps up and shout "Eureka" that provides the strength of a natural law, but all the people who jump out and shout "no you don't". If you cannot deal with these people, you do not need to bother yourself with actual science.

Is it your intention to try and expose me as a christian and a muslim, or to expose atheists as religious. Just come out with it, and if you have more scripture, go right ahead.

p.s. did you know that the idea continental plates moved was unthinkable up until twenty years ago? Up until that point, anyone who suggested otherwise would have been beaten down by the mob and had evidence shoved in their faces. Now, however, the reverse is true.

Given this lack of understanding up until recently, it's no wonder plate movement being the cause of Biblical disasters has not yet been considered properly.
