You left of this part at the end;

Big Grin

Context, baby!

Sure, I was being sarcastic, but it was intended to be funny, thus the grinning face at the end...

theVoid,
From your last post I add just this. Apart from agreeing that god probably doesn't exist, the only other thing I can agree with you on is your assertion that you'd like to make everybody excessively wealthy.
But we know that is pure fantasy, even ,and undoubtedly, under capitalism, don't we?

I said I'd rather make everyone excessively wealthy, rather than you wanting them to be "free" from excessive wealth, if someone does not want to be wealthy, does not value material wealth or takes pleasure from other things then they can freely pursue their own desires and pleasures - Unlike you I won't force a single person to go one way or the other, nobody has any moral authority to make that decision for them.

Yeah, making everyone excessively wealthy isn't a realistic goal, namely because resources are scarce and wealth is relative. Your fantasy "camp sing-along state" is just as absurd, the difference is I'm not pretending that working towards some utopia is a realistic goal, nor am I willing to assume I have the authority to make people work towards my idealised world - You on the other hand seem quite happy thinking you know best and if you think it's something that should be done you can just go along and force compliance.

If everyone is wealthy, does wealth not lose all meaning?
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

In a sense, though not relative to the past or in terms of the fulfilment of their desires or pleasures.

Only as a means of competition and bragging rights.

Wealth allows for people to buy what they want to buy. And that's a good thing usually.

You were implying that I don't want people to be universally wealthy, as if the goal of socialism is to make everyone not wealthy. The goal of socialism is to redistribute the total wealth available more evenly across the population. Capitalism ensures a minority with great wealth , a large number living in poverty and a larger number still in between the 2 poles.
I do not have the power to force a belief in and adherence to building socialism across the globe. I am simply one of those who seeks to convince people of the sense in it.
I do wish you would keep to the issues and avoid the constant accusations you level at me.

I've always thought the redistributing wealth to be a good thing, to a certain extant.

It does no good if wealthy tycoons simply buy real estate, usually for purposes of converting unreliable cash into reliable tracts of rocks. That money could certainly have been used to fund a company, give seed money, etc, that can feed a growing workforce. That money could've been used for aid programs, ensuring that the most vulnerable do not starve in the motherfucking 21st century.

Many people, including a fair body of wealthy folks, in the US envision redistribution of wealth as "Government takes all your money, makes you live like a rat". The authoritarian Soviets did somewhat contribute to their flawed, extreme idea.

If inequality is to be addressed, I would have thought redistribution of wealth is unavoidable.
What amazes me is that " ordinary " people with not a lot of wealth to be redistributed are so fearful of the idea of socialism!
I do not portray Soviet Russia as the working example of socialism , as Orwell indicated in Writing " Animal Farm ".
