Quick Poll: Do you drink alcohol?

I usually have some alcohol in the house -- a bottle of Scotch and sometimes brandy or rum -- and occasionally pick up beer or wine. Fairly unusual for me to have alcohol 2 days in a row. Once or twice a week is more typical, and sometimes I go a few weeks without bothering to pour a snoot of Scotch or do a beer run. A 6-pack of beer usually lasts me a week or more.

The only exception is around holidays, when I pick up a bottle of sparkling white wine (cava or prosecco, usually). Love that stuff. I have a couple of glasses with dinner, maybe a refill later in the evening with dessert, and then work through the rest of it over the next few days.

Maybe this is another thread, but I like to cook with alcohol. I like making fruitcakes with dark rum, and I love tiramisu.

Even in recovery, I can and do use beer as a marinade for beef, and a little wine on occasion.

Never cared for cakes, or sweets of any sort, once past adolescence, so I've got no sway on that topic. But  a nice ribeye roast marinaded in a cab, or a tritip marinaded in a decent pale ale -- marvelous.

I've ruined enough beef over a grill that I might qualify for a career in Dante's version of the inferno, but I think I'll try these marinades. I generally simply use garlic, salt and pepper. I'm not a cook. You need something mechanical designed and built, or a vehicle fixed, I'm your guy. My wife's father was a grillmeister, and she expects me to have the same tendencies. I'm not that guy. Shit, I burn fish sticks on the grill.

I'm a semi-controlled alcoholic. I manage to stay clean 4-5 days out of the week while giving in 2-3 days. It think it will kill me eventually.

I've got beers in my fridge that are old enough to vote. That's how much I drink these days.
Having said that, I'm drinking a can of cider now. (A slab of 20 lasts about 6 months or more.

Going out for my nephew's 21st soon. So we bought a 4 pack of Jack stubbies. 2 for me and 2 for Pam.
(Of all the days to have his 21st, he picked the AFL footy Grandfinal day! (starting in less than one minute!)

I do not smoke or drink any alcoholic drinks... I do feel a bit awkward due to this at parties and social gatherings, but my friends know and accomodate my choice so it's okay.

I don't drink alcohol. I quaff it.

I went for years and years where I wouldn't touch the stuff because it made me nervous to feel even slightly out of control. I've outgrown that, and now can enjoy 1 beer or one glass of wine (still not more than that). I usually have one drink on Friday evenings, which is Pizza night. Sometimes my husband like me to have a buzz for fooling around, and I'll have one drink before that, as well. If we go out to eat (which has been one time in the last 3 months, which is pretty typical), I may also have a drink, so that accounts for maybe twice a year.

I've seen way too many people sick with hangovers, or do something they regretted later, when they get drunk. No thanks.
