SURVIVOR 35: HHH

I am increasingly not liking Chrissy.  She comes off as really arrogant and full of herself saying stuff like how she's going to outsmart Roark, and is now probably patting herself on the back because Ryan made, IMO, a questionable move.  She doesn't seem to understand that just because you occasionally get a break that doesn't mean you're prophetic.  The one silver lining in her staying is that she still has that invalid idol in her pocket and I'm thinking (hoping) there will be some fireworks when she starts playing it off like it's real.  But I hope that that point that Ryan will have gone sour on her and her attempt to play it will backfire right in her face. Devil

That would be most excellent. But aside from her getting a little carried away with herself I'm kind of happy to see an older woman (a kid from my POV but any way) do well in this game. Must be that root for the underdog thing.

Tongue

Maybe lay off the heavy drugs?

But I agree she was interesting for her mind and seemed to have a lot of potential.

Hustler?  Wasn't red the color of the hustler's tribe?  He went behind her back and aligned with someone she didn't want to work with, apparently, so now there are going to be hurt feelings and two alliance members pulling on him and his attentions.  It might not have been a great move to get rid of Chrissy because he put effort into that relationship, but he at least wouldn't have one burned alliance member and one happy one still in the game, know what I mean?  If Chrissy had gone, What's-Her-Name would be the only one he'd have to worry about, Chrissy wouldn't still be in the game and holding a grudge against Ryan the way What's-Her-Face is still in the game and now has an ax to grind.

Anyway, those are my thoughts on the vote.

Seems about right. Must be tough to be in Ryan's shoes and have to make those decisions. It is a loss which ever way he chooses but for the reasons you gave he might have calculated the pros and cons incorrectly.

Yep.

I actually liked Chrissy a few episodes ago. The thing that I'm not liking about her now is all the "I'm obviously the smartest player here" horn-tooting she's doing in this episode. She seems to have a pretty hefty ego she's carrying around and I don't like that in players. At least, I don't like when they make it that known to the cameras. Tongue

Otherwise I agree that it's nice to see an older woman doing well in the game without resorting to the "Mom" role. In that respect she reminds me of Kass - another "older woman" type who broke that mold and was seen for her brashness and her willingness to be assertive, in contrast with a Dawn who might typify the "mom type" on survivor by being the caring one people go to confide in and then is hit with the whole "I trusted you and you betrayed me" backfire.

I'm all caught up!!! Big Grin
This is one mess of a season...
Advantages that can only be played at the next tribal and need to be passed on to someone if your tribe isn't going?... And the advantage is to block someone else's vote on some other tribe you know nearly nothing about?! Bah, in the end, with little Tony using his idol, it turned out pointless... and the tribe now knows nothing of that kid's true alignment.

So, it seems that Mr can'tKeepHisMouthShut is going to dive in the sand, next episode... HAHAHA, the girl is probably poisoning his water or something! Tongue idiot, sharing info with everyone... the girl is cute, though... will be sad to see her go when they get fed up with her.
The idiot could have gone full power couple with her and now he's tumbling Tongue
So... if idiot guy gets medevac'd is there also some tribal council to kick someone out? (I know I should know this, because I've seen it happen, but can't remember and CM has this info at the tip of her fingers)

And the backstories are coming up! Big cowboy marine can't hear a gunshot that's just a pop from bamboo burning. And is playing to give his family a better life after all the things he's seen "serving his country" (because he was clearly defending his country from an invading force... oh wait!)

So, Bellhop boy went with jock and mom, leaving the old tribe buddy loose... She gonna be pissed! hehe... but it should turn out alright-ish... From this group, I'd say the next to go should be the jock, as he would outlast the others in any challenge after the merge... am I talking about merging too soon? Angel

It depends on if they've built in a two-vote episode or not. In the later seasons they have been and it's been up to the producers whether they make players go to tribal, go but not vote, or go and vote. It changes season to season.

I didn't think Ali would go home. But I also did. On the one hand I thought Ryan was actually trying to mend his relationship with Ali so that they could move forward in the game. And they played it up in the episode like he did that. On the other hand, they played up JP as the vote so hard for the whole episode that I felt like when the vote came that it wouldn't possibly be JP.

Ryan really f'd it up when he got defensive with Ali. He should have hung his head, copped to not trusting Roark and played up Ali's budding relationship as being so threatening that he didn't feel like he could confide in her anymore, but instead he got defensive about it and tried to defend himself instead of looking contrite and regretful. He ultimately did what I thought should have happened last week and got rid of one of his dangerous allies whom he backstabbed.

I liked his line about how everyone wants to work with him but how he's such a weasel Tongue

Chrissy came off a lot better in this episode than she did in the last one. I still think she's carting around a whopper of an ego, but she at least wasn't featured enough in this episode where she could talk about how awesome she is. I feel like she's becoming a bit blind to her successes in that a ton of this game is luck and being on the right side of twists and she hasn't had a major setback to really set her straight yet.

I was kind of bummed about Joe finding the idol again because I don't like him. I would have preferred Desi find it so that she would be more comfortable flipping on him with the other two.

And I increasingly can't stand Cole. He comes off as an idiot. But I love Doctor Mike, and love the combo of Doctor Mike, Ben and Lauren teaming up to vote him out if/when the time comes. I also thought it was interesting that even tho Cole took a nose-dive in the middle of camp the medics weren't called. Makes sense in the sense Doctor Mike is a... doctor a knew how to take care of him, but also belies the face that his fall wasn't necessarily bad enough and he recovered well enough that Doctor Mike and Jessica could handle the situation. Even though I don't like Cole, I'm glad he wasn't medivac'd.

It looks like there's a merge next week! The merge phase is always the most exciting!

How in the world do you know so much?

You know, I've liked Chrissy all along even though I prefer looking at Ali. Chrissy may be a mom figure to some of you but to me she is just one more young babe and good looking in her own right. Okay that handles the perving issues.

I think Joe came off as more human this week and I dislike him less. I don't blame him for looking for idols and this time he went and got it in a way that made sense. Not really much about him this week though.

The doc is still one of my favorite characters and I do like the weasel (and that hottie Chrissy of course).. Cowboy is a nice person but I don't think he has the game of a winner, nor the ability to dominate challenges.

Cole passing out makes me wonder what his body fat % might be. Could put his hunger in context. Even so, you don't pig out on other people's portions and expect to stick around in the game.

How can you guys know their names?!?

There's the doc, the pretty girl nurse and the idiot who took a nose dive... I'm amazed he didn't hurt his face, it looked like he hit it on the bamboo.

On the other tribe, there's the guy that was almost voted out... he slipped in one of the challenges and hit his head on the floating platform... how he managed to continue the challenge, I attribute to adrenaline!

Mr Parole officer (how the heck do I remember their jobs, but not their names?!!) found an idol. Bloody lucky, considering how he was out searching along with the other guy who was watching him like a hawk. Also, if the editing is to be believed, it seems that tribe is thinking of voting him out, so that idol may come in handy... it may also go home with him... we'll see... but wait! the merge is upon us... the idol becomes useful, but the threat of going home is now less imminent!

About the editing, they're resuming last season's habit of editing to make us think one thing is going to happen and then.... plot twist!! it's the opposite!! GOTCHA! -.-'
That sucks, big time and takes away from enjoying the thought processes and how alliances form, pre-tribal.
So, boooooo to them for that!

I dosed off for a few minutes during the last episode and missed the exciting part when Cole fainted (that's the story of my life, pretty much lol).
I thought the complaining about Cole eating more than his fair share was going to be a precursor to him getting voted off. I won't be sad to seem him go if and when he is booted.

At the moment I'm rooting for the doc, who I think looks like Elvis Costello. Smile

I've watched every single season, and many of them multiple times.

You're an icky, pervy ol' man, whatevs! Be thou ashamed of your wicked thoughts!

I agree with all this.  Joe was less completely irritating - if he played with less of a hot head I think he'd stick around longer and be less of a target.  Lovin' me some Doctor Mike.  Chrissy is still in a grey area for me, I waffle on whether I like her based on how much back-patting she's doing with herself.  Cole is an idiot.

(November 2, 2017 at 4:44 pm)pocaracas Wrote: How can you guys know their names?!?

I only know some of them.  I couldn't name every cast member if my life depended on it, I only know the big players right now, or the ones that I like.  And until I learn their names they get a nickname like Joe=Tiny Tony, Ali=What's-her-face...

You don't need to spend a lot of time investing in names early on because the merge is where is all happens.  Learn the big players at the merge and you'll be fine.

More like: how the show, the part we can watch on tv, is broken and providing a false view of how things are on the ground.... thus providing every season with a batch of players that aren't really understanding what they're getting themselves into.
