eternal recurence

RE: eternal recurence
Sometimes a concept is so foreign, that to get a laymans understanding of such a thing...a flowery, but ultimately incorrect analogy is made.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I think it was in one of Dawkins' books that he suggested that there were a billion variables which led to our existence on earth. The shitheads are so impressed by this that they have concocted a whole 'god' to do it for them.

To assume that after after the entire universe contracts back upon itself and re-explodes that each of those variables will be replicated in exactly the same way is the same kind of mindset as the jesus freaks and their fucking god.

If the universe explodes and contracts an infinite number of times, the odds approach 1:1 that we'll get a replication of results at some point.

This seems fairly logical.

Right, you're talking about reincarnation here, not physical cosmology.

The same existential problem may be addressed by clones, whether in this or another parallel universe, might have an identical make-up to you - yet still fundamentally they would be a different person with their own collective thoughts and memories. It doesn't matter if the universe rebounds on itself indefinitely, all the available evidence points to our consciousnesses ceasing to function when we die, they do not survive brain death. Its irrelevant to you and me as individuals to ponder whether the universe and the exact organic matter we're made of reforms in it or not; we're dead.
