For people, dont use "it". Use "they" when unsure of gender.
"they" is used for plural. I think that inventing a neutral pronoun for people would be a better option.

Not only for plural anymore.
Yes, but i find it kind of confusing. "they" can mean both more people and a single nonbinary person. That's why I think that a neutral pronoun for singular is a good.

If a parent can't identify with a gender he could be simply caled parent, I guess.
