Thanks for the suggestion but I've seen The Young Ones and didn't really like it. I know it's the forerunner to Bottom, and I can see elements of it in it, but it just never really appealed to me. IIRC... unless I'm thinking of something else... it has a lot of live music in it? I've just never been one for 'variety' programmes... it really puts me off when programmes do that... I think 'just do one thing, and do it well'... especially when in this case (or whatever case I'm thinking of, if not it) it was done like that just to get more funding from the BBC
They did the "variety" stuff for the money. Back then the Beeb gave significantly more funding to shows thatvwere classed as varieties than they gave to comedies.

They started out as the dangerous brothers on the comedy circuit.

But did you know where the name "Eddie" comes from?
Ade Edmondson's nickname among his colleagues is Eddie Monsoon, a fact which was played with in the Comic Strip Presents... instalment "Eddie Monsoon - A Life?". It's basically dogged his career.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'
