You want to know why cats are demons? lol Because they look all cute and cuddly like that and I want to bury my face in their fur. Apparently cats don't appreciate being suddenly cuddle attacked :p Zero just sits there and takes it like a champ. We joke that he tells himself it's the price to pay to live as spoiled as he does. We say "His name is Zero Dinero cause he aint gots no money so he pays his rent in cuddles."

I promised the woman I adopted the chickens from that I wouldn't feed them chicken. So far I have kept the promise. But sometimes we have way too many eggs, and I cook them eggs. There's something very meta about that.

When I used to keep finches I'd give them a little egg shell.  I imagine it would be good for chickens as well as a mineral source.  Hey, that's an idea.  Maybe I can find some pet bird pictures.  I never ate any of them either.  Also, just to be clear, I'm sure I'd want no part of eating a pet chicken either.  


This was the first aviary I built in 1990.  I kept zebras, nuns, cordon bleu, waxbills and other finches in it.




The same aviary is on the right side of the old gardens shed.  The next two aviaries went on the side closest us in this picture, just above the creek.




A night heron (I think) perched above the creek.




The bird with the bright orange band is the male weaver, the dull looking ones on top are his hens and the larger bird is a mesia.

I no longer keep any caged birds but I kept one aviary intact to keep an outdoor bed vermin free.




At the back of one aviary I made this faux rock wall with planting pockets.  Once I started planting the aviaries I began to realize I could simply enhance the garden for the wild birds and do away with the demands of maintaining aviaries.




I may yet get around to keeping chickens.  Yours aren't hard to look at and we eat a few eggs.

So you don't think Zero likes being cuddled?  That is funny.  My older dog Heidi loves it and I'm pretty sure the little boy Smoke endures it as an act of submission.

If Clyde ever started in a movie Jack Black would do the voice, if there was no Kung-fu Panda movie shooting. He really needs to be under a tree in N'gorongoro waiting for the pride to kill something.

Yep, I have two 27" monitors on my desk. After/during seven eye surgeries I'll take any help I can get. The image is a Russian highway. There's at least one idiot in that pack. Mayhem pends.

1st off the aviaries are awesome. I adore birds but couldn't ever keep one. Your haven for the wild birds is brilliant.
2nd Zero liking being cuddled is based on his mood at the moment. I'm not joking that he is a little diva. He is the biggest cuddle bug when he wants to be and he will lay on me, will curl around me, will lift my hand up with his nose to make me pet him, will whine and cry until he can cuddle on the couch. The moment he decides that's enough he gets this look where he looks like he is just sufferin the whole world's pain having to sit through a hug. We will be cuddling and Tony will hand me Charlie and he will, I'm not joking, huff, get up, go to the other couch, lay so that he can stare at us, and glare for a good ten minutes. If I'm already holding her on my lap he will try to join her and sit on me so I have to move her.

Hah! Imagine the indignity of being displaced by a little human that can't bring your ball back or much of anything else. Life can be so cruel for a dog.
