I hate the false slur that if you support the left, you hate wealth. I know that is not what you mean by this. But, whenever the left criticizes wealth we falsely get accused of wanting a communist state.
Examples?

Casino losses were a tax dodge. No doubt.

I don't see how an end to the private sector would "only concentrate wealth to the fewer"? Doesn't that happen anyway WITH the private sector? If we look at Cuba, they have more doctors per person than anywhere else in world ( physicians per 1000 people, data by World Bank) because they have a goverment that actually cares about its citizens. In Cuba the goverment pays for practically everything for everyone so it would be misleading to simply state "Cubans have incredibly low wages" as it doesn't take into account the reality of life in Cuba.
Did you know, for example, that Cuba has developed a vaccine for cancer of the lungs? Did you know that expectancy is Cuba is actually equal to that of the United States? Clearly, life must not be that bad in a socialist country. Just look at all of these alcoholic beverages (including beer) at this bar in Havanna:
Here's a video explaining "How Democracy Works in Cuba"
I truly believe that you are the naive one in this case Brian.

Just because a communist country does some things better does not mean they get everything right. Cuba and China and Russia SUCK at allowing dissent. Not everything has to be an either/or proposition.
I think we can allow the private sector and provide non private sector health care universally. I don't think we need to become a one party state like Cuba to do that. And unless you are from Cuba, please spare me. If it is so much better there, move there. The Castro mafia family would have someone like me arrested or murdered.

"Cuba and China and Russia SUCK at allowing dissent."
Did you even watch the video "How Democracy Works in Cuba"? Don't compare it with China and Russia. That's insulting to Cubans.

Don't want to hear it! They are a one party state. If anything, you are insulting all the Cubans who fled to America to avoid persecution.
Cuba is a party keptocracy, not a state that has concepts of checks on power. They are still a dictatorship ruled by one family. I can show you private businesses in North Korea too.
"Don't bite the hand that feeds you" is an authoritarian view. I could give a shit less if Cuba allows some private business, they are not a politically pluralistic society. And again, if you think it is all peaches and cream there, move there. And don't simply hang out or live in the tourist districts, if you do.

Yea, you want me to buy the stance of a government that was run by Fidel Castro and is still funded by Communist China, their ally.
I was born at night, just not last night. They still have the political leanings of the former Soviet Union. No thanks.
I really do get sick of Che supporters. He was no champion of the poor, he was an opportunist.
Um no, decency is fighting one family rule, not supporting it.

But, Brian, that is your problem. No one is suggesting that a mom and pop shop is buying politicians with campaign bribes. You are exactly right. It is the power of corporate fucks which is destroying the republic not the small shopkeepers who are being run out of business by the big corporate chains. When someone makes that argument to you they must be shot down instantly.

I agree, the Koch class has too much power, but both they and the mom and pop shops are capitalists. China's workers are also getting screwed by corporatism. No ability for workers to unite. So my point isn't the private sector or capitalism, but abuse of power.
So the real issue isn't banning business, because mom and pop shops are also businesses, but to get back to anti monopoly concepts.
