My biggest issue with theists
#61
RE: My biggest issue with theists
No one ever talks to me about religion in person; those people that are religious know that randomly bringing it up isn't a great idea in England. I'd welcome it if they wanted to, as long as it was a sensible discussion rather than a conversion attempt.

Correction: I have had a few JWs come to my door. I've always just said I'm not interested. I'd be within my rights to grill them I guess (politely). My friend does that.

I was talking more about reading what theists write online, and watching videos they make. I have had a few sensible discussions on here, but most of my efforts have failed. I've tried every way I can think of to bridge the gap, but sometimes it seems impossible. I have developed a pretty good understanding of theist thought patterns and what causes this difference in the first place, which is largely to do with what they are exposed to as children.

As a theist, I'm not trying to convert anyone. Convert to what! STUPIDITY! If I may be so bold: there isn't a single pastor's, priest's, whatever's, teaching that is worth a damn! The English bible is a complete waste of time! I'm not lying! It is sooo bad!

And, I AM NOT A TEACHER! I merely play show and tell with those words I didn't write, in a language I don't speak! Yet, I did learn how to honor the language in it's grammatical inflection. Which inflection, leaves no room for anyone's "private interpretations". Yet, their horrid manipulation and interpretations have caused wars! THESE THINGS SHOULD NOT BE!!!

They are dishonoring my God and they wonder why I look at theology like a brick looks at a stained glass window!
My girlfriend thinks I'm a stalker. Well...she's not my girlfriend "yet".

I discovered a new vitamin that fights cancer. I call it ...B9

I also invented a diet pill. It works great but had to quit taking it because of the side effects. Turns out my penis is larger and my hair grew back. And whoa! If you think my hair is nice!

When does size truly matter? When it's TOO big!

I'm currently working on a new pill I call "Destenze". However...now my shoes don't fit.

I am about to blow your socks off, Haipule.

Nobody had to tell me about your shitty book. Shock horror: I managed to form my own opinions all by my little self, by the incredibly complicated formula of reading the bastard thing and learning the background to how and why it was written.

It's the same mantra as the flat earth brigade - everything that anyone says against the subject is due to what they are taught; while they, blissful little idiots that they are, are the bold brave internet warriors battling an international conspiracy to hide 'der troof'. For some reason.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Your god deserves to be dishonoured. He/she/it/housecat is entirely  imaginary and, as described, a moral thug.

You lose points for being a conspiracy theorist, if nothing else. But given the points you've racked up here, it's probably academic.

I don't know why some accuse me as a "conspiracy theorist". Your not the first. I personally don't believe that the misrepresentation of the bible by Xtians is a conspiracy. I refuse to give them that much credit.

It's just 2Kyrs of the blind leading the blind into pits of darkness. If they refuse to honor the words because of tradition then, it's not a conspiracy, but, it is lame! And they can keep their theological darkness!

It's funny but they also say, "Everyone is wrong and only you are right?" "Don't you see the problem?" Well, in my defense, I say, "I'm not right"! "Only the bible is right!" "So, YOUR wrong!"

I honor what was written as perfectly as I can. Honestly girlfriend, I'm just doing my best in this opportunity presented to me. I found it fascinating so continued in it to the point where both my mother and my wife refuse to read my book. How fucked up is that!

Another thing that is funny is when atheists quote the bible to me as if I agree with the gross English manipulation. Then I say, "No, that is wrong!" Then, all of a sudden, the atheists argue against me as if they're Xtians defending the bible! Smile

RE: My biggest issue with theists
What's the difference between dogmatically following the bible under your interpretation, and Christians doing the same with theirs?

PS: Even following every word literally, at face value, is an interpretation. And if you do that, the book begins with a series of nonsense stories that didn't happen.

It's not like the bible is a series of mathematical formulae with very well-defined meanings.

I learn about nature studying nature. I have studied mountains; weather; oceans; fish; chemistry; biology; squirrels; bees; beetles; dragonflies; deer; trees; plants; hair. Through which all I was introduced to light; sound; magnetism; electricity. None of which need not be a mathematical formula to understand. Yet, all interrelate. I started at the mountain to the ocean and worked my way back. What I have found is a symphony of harmony.

Math can distort. So FUCK math! E=MC2 my ass! Science can distort. So FUCK science! Theology can distort. So FUCK theology!

A hyper-literal expose of the words written in the bible IS NOT AN INTERPRETATION! Allowing the words to speak for themselves is nothing put show and tell like it or not! I could care less about your opinion.

Honestly people, the bible is not open for interpretation because the language itself cannot allow it! It is not an exhausting English legal contract! But, you can't tell an Xtian that!

Those "stories" at the beginning may be impossible to understand at this time according to your ability, or lack there of, to process information. However, understanding mitochondrial DNA forced science to give a "mocking nod" to Eve said in the bible to be, "The mother of all living". Well dude, until recently, that was impossible to understand. I say thank you to people regardless of any belief system including science.

And the rib bone taken from Adams side, full of multipotent stem cells, were the building blocks by which she was built(banah). Which rib bone grew back because we now know that rib bones grow back if the sheath housing it is left intact by the surgeon. All of this was not known to be even possible 100yrs ago!

Are you like the patent office which once said, "There is no need to apply for patents because everything that can be invented has been invented". And that in a world before automobiles, airplanes and modern computers.

Continue to learn. There is much to know. Harping on whether there is a God, or not, is a complete waste of time. Nature will continue to seek harmony in spite of your, or anyone's, belief system to the contrary.

RE: My biggest issue with theists
Yeah... you're retrofitting science to the bible, like all Christians, and discarding science when it's inconvenient, like all Christians. At least some Christians will own their interpretation, rather than pretending it's impossible there's more than one way to read the text. Trying to force everything to align with an ancient book is a serious barrier to real learning. I don't know why you'd start off assuming a book of nonsense stories has anything to tell us, and you don't read them as written unless... you're a creationist?

By the way, atheists quote the bible to show that you don't follow it, as you claim. I doubt translation issues could account for all the execution instructions in the OT as well as all the other hateful shit.
