The Tower of Babel

Claimed.

Quote:Many stories and wild theories emerged over the decades about Leedskalnin and how he built his castle. Some say he levitated the blocks with psychic powers, or by singing to the stones. Others suggest Leedskalnin had arcane knowledge of magnetism and so-called "earth energies."

As tempting as it is to view the amazing park through a veil of mystery, in fact we know how the castle was built. Creating a structure like the Coral Castle today could probably be accomplished in a few months with a construction crew and modern machinery. But Leedskalnin worked alone using basic tools like picks, winches, ropes and pulleys. Leedskalnin himself said that that he did it using hard work and the principles of leverage. The tools he used to quarry the rock are on display at the Coral Castle, and several old photos depict the large tripods, pulleys, and winches he used to move the blocks. Though the quarried stone slabs are large, they are actually lighter than they appear because the rock is porous.

Remarkably, when he heard that a subdivision was being planned near his home, he bought land 10 miles away. Over the next three years, he moved the structures he had already begun from Florida City to Homestead, according to the museum's website.

Though Leedskalnin worked alone, he was not a reclusive hermit; he had friends who he saw often. One man, Orval Irwin, was not only a long-time friend of Leedskalnin's but also a building contractor with a deep knowledge of construction techniques. Irwin wrote a 1996 book with the inspiring title "Mr. Can't Is Dead! The Story of the Coral Castle," and in it he explains, through photographs, drawings, and schematics, how it was done.

Irwin pours cold water on the paranormal theories that unknown energies, alien technology, or levitation built the castle. In fact, he finds such theories an insult to the hard work and integrity of his friend: "Back in the days when Ed started carving out his original stones," Irwin writes, "his was a generation who knew accomplishments by the sweat of the brow. It wasn't mysticism but hard work, this is how Ed really accomplished the massive project...."
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The things that are abundantly clear, are that Leedskalnin worked alone, at night, and that no one ever saw his techniques.

Feel free to explain how a single man can move a 30 ton stone 10 miles overnight, using the took mentioned.

Feel free to explain how he knew what techniques the egyptians used, lol.

It's a tourist attraction.  I suppose it might have retained it's mystery had it not been damaged so often and repaired.  For example..that oh so mysterious stone door?  Truck bearing with a steel shaft for hinges.  I guess that's probably how the egyptians did it too.  Rolleyes

The fuckin tools the man used to build the place are on display -at- the place.....

What won't you believe?  You don't happen to believe that the mermaids at weeki wachee are real..do you?

I didn't here you explain what I asked...

Also what was special about the door wasn't the freaking bearing, it was the fact that it was so perfectly balanced it require little effort to push what was 9 tons.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coral_Castle

Quote:A 9-short-ton (8.2 t) revolving 8-foot tall gate is a famous structure of the castle, documented on the television programs In Search of...[16] and That's Incredible!. The gate is carved so that it fits within a quarter of an inch of the walls. It was well-balanced, reportedly so that a child could open it with the push of a finger. The mystery of the gate's perfectly balanced axis and the ease with which it revolved lasted for decades until it stopped working in 1986. In order to remove it, six men and a 50-short-ton (45 t) crane were used. Once the gate was removed, the engineers discovered how Leedskalnin had centered and balanced it. He had drilled a hole from top to bottom and inserted a metal shaft. The rock rested on an old truck bearing. It was the rusting out of this bearing that resulted in the gate's failure to revolve. Complete with new bearings and shaft, it was set back into place on July 23, 1986. It failed in 2005 and was again repaired; however, it does not rotate with the same ease it once did.

So what you really need explained is how doors work, I take it?

First of all genius, we don't even know how the pyramids were built, so what qualifies anyone to say what they did or didn't know?

Second of all look up Coral Castle.

The guy who single-handedly built that (which required cutting, moving and erecting stone up to 30 tons form a quarry 10 miles away overnight) claimed he used the same technology used in building the pyramids.

I've never seen such wishful thinking and ignorance
We have working idea's, just because you don't know how people built something does not mean they had knowledge of the type you are claiming, it shows no where else in their society or writings which that type of knowledge would.

You didn't even read the article they presumed an awful lot, for one they presumed that it was solid marble, where as we know a lot of inner pyramid construction is anything but, it was filled with rubble. Even the scientist involved admitted that there was absolutely no evidence that the Egyptians knew what the properties were.

Quote:As the stones forming the core of the pyramids were roughly cut, especially in the Great Pyramid, the material used to fill the gaps was another problem. Huge quantities of gypsum and rubble were needed

First you are talking of 'gateways to other dimensions' now you are suggesting that an ancient culture had advanced understanding of electricity (but only when building pyramids) which would serve absolutely no purpose, clearly you have been watching too much stargate.

Get a reality check Huggy stop looking at sensationalist headlines, stop believing stargate and do some real reading then maybe you wouldn't make such basic mistakes.

No.

How a single man move a 30 ton stone in the course of a night.

Also engineers that repaired the door after the bearing rusted, can't get it to work properly. Since you apparently know, go ahead and explain that too.

Huggy, there are photos...and even a film..of how he moved the blocks.  They're right there, on display, at the attraction..and easily found online. You're asking me to explain a mystery that isn't mysterious.

That's referring to 'mortar' being filled with rubble not the pyramid...

Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess, lets start slinging totally unrelated nonsense and hope its enough obfuscation.

I know you have google.  Use it. Or hey..maybe...since you're entirely certain that some lost ancient tech was employed..you should go on a pilgrimage to the site and see it for yourself?

-while you're at it, check out a guy named Wally Wallington (? last name may be wrong) he does a bunch of cool shit without using any of the blocks, pulleys, chains, winches or trucks that the coral castle builder used.  It's even more impressive..and still not magic.
