Anti-gunners should ask themselves a few basic questions. I'll try to break this down into categories for simplicity.

1. Do you trust your government without reservation? Do you belive they will never try to oppress you or pass laws that will curtail the rights and privileges you currently enjoy in whatever country you reside? Do you believe government is infallible and it's wise leadership will never lead to unforseen circumstances that will allow oppression or inequality to exist?

2. Do you believe that other governments will never invade your country, or that if they do your government is capable of repelling invaders? If necessary do you believe your government will use fair and equal methods to raise an army to defend your country?

3. Do you trust the legal system in your country to pass and execute all laws fairly and equally without bias? Do you believe your legal system is now, and will forever be, just?

4. Do you trust your police to always be unbiased in their enforcement of the law, and to treat all citizens fairly?

5. Do you trust your government, legal system, and police with the ability to keep you safe from invaders, criminals, and itself?

6. Do you trust your fellow man to always act within the law and to never harbor ill will or intentionally cause harm or death for any reason? Do you believe that only people with the highest moral and civil standards will ever be your neighbor or a member of your government?

If the answer to any of those questions is "yes" then you clearly suffer from a disconnect with reality. If the answer is "no" to any of those questions and you still believe firearms have no place in society then you deserve whatever misfortune may be your lot, and are undeserving of sympathy.

Well, that's a somewhat idiotic response considering that every single one of those "fever dream scenarios" is being played out in some form or another in the real world today. 

- The black South African government is openly inciting blacks to kill white farmers. 

- Religious minorities all around the world are singled out for oppression, imprisonment, and murder by other religious groups AND governments.

- Children in Britain are still being subjected to serial rape by Muslim men because the government cares more about not insulting Islam than protecting children. 

- Pick a country in Africa... Armed gangs show up randomly in villages, kill all the men, and take the women to rape until they decide to kill them too. Governments can't or won't stop it from happening and the unarmed villagers have no defense against invaders.

- Human slavery still exists openly in some Middle Eastern countries. HUman trafficking of both children and adults is an ongoing global problem.

- Almost every year one country invades another. Good, bad, or indifferent; America does it all the time. The fact that I personally support them does not erase my belief that if we invade a sovereign nation that the citizens have the right to defend themselves when their government inevitably fails to do so.

- In 2017 Russia legalized domestic violence against women. At least one television station went so far as to suggest that women should be proud of the bruises they receive from their husbands.

- About 12 hours prior to this post a court in China concluded that citizens have been subjected to illegal, forced organ harvesting operations while being held as political prisoners.

Every single one of these issues could at least be mitigated by arming private citizens. As much as you want to cling to your dangerous notion that an inanimate object is the root of all evil in the world, and the world would be full of sunshine and roses if only they didn't exist, your position can be summed up by simply saying that you personally believe in denying people the basic right to exist... Your foolishness has very real world consequences. These kinds of occurrences are a direct result of not allowing people the basic right to defend their lives, their families, their property and in some cases, yes, their right to exist.

When I first started writing this response, I had intended to say something like "I hope you never have to suffer the same horrors you believe other people around the world should suffer." Frankly, the more I consider it, I kinda hope that you DO have the opportunity to experience the consequences of your own stupidity in all it's splendor with no one to defend you or the means to defend yourself.
