Do u want there to be a God? Any God?

RE: Do u want there to be a God? Any God?
I am with the non-sequitur camp with respect to the OP. It is irrelevant to hope about something that either does or does not exist. It is like asking if I hope that there is a race of talking donkeys who live on a planet orbiting Alpha Centauri who spend their days reciting Shakespeare.

Yes anti religious regimes have popped up throughout history, so what? Are you trying to say that the atheist population living under those regimes were responsible for their governments policies and actions?

Atheism is a stance taken on one question, it has no agenda or ulterior motive behind it. You can try to argue as much as you like that a disbelief in a God causes harm but you would be barking up the wrong tree. On the other hand, we see everyday the harm caused to people by populations with a belief in one God or another.

Quote: State atheism may refer to a government's anti-clericalism, which opposes religious institutional power and influence in all aspects of public and political life, including the involvement of religion in the everyday life of the citizen.

Anti-clericalism is not atheism. An atheist may be anti-clerical or anti-theist, but it is not a necessary part of atheism.

Stance that has caused many innocent people to be senselessly murdered.  It doesn't need "religion", but just someone lunatic using it as an excuse to slaughter people.

Atheism is a natural and inseparable part of Marxism, of the theory and practice of scientific socialism. Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism. - Vladimir Lenin

The sheer amount of threads that turn into believers expressing their dissatisfaction with soviet "communism" is all that's required to observe that the faithful don't have the first clue what atheism is.

What they need is a textbook, not a discussion with atheists.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Neither mere atheism nor mere theism drive or prevent wars.

As for Lenin, believing that you get to forever define a movement you had a hand in starting is a common delusion among people who help start movements. Cuba is one of the most classically Marxist-Leninist states, yet has almost as high a percentage of Christians as the USA. Giving up or cutting back on the 'propaganda of atheism' is a common pattern in communist states as the decades pass.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

It's not just about what it is, but the impact of it historically. I don't think too many people care if you're atheist.  I know I certainly don't.  But when you mistreat people because of it, then people are going to take notice.

The delusion is ignoring what has been observed.  You don't have to assume it's going to create a similar event, but we need to at least keep it in the back of our mind so as to catch it if it starts to.

We do have textbooks.  These events are in textbooks.  Or did you mean a version you create so it says what you want it to and nothing more?

Then go read one.  Honestly, there's no point in correcting you on the same article in every single thread....along with the rest of the unwashed cold war remnants that end up on these boards imagining that their mistaken political axes have anything to do with a single line item on the issue of the divine.
