I think you don't understand.  You choose to be atheist.  Why?  Blind reason?  If not, there must be something.

I did not choose to be an atheist.
You don't get to choose what you believe, you either do or you don't.
I don't.

The reason why I don't believe in god is because I never have and never saw anything that changed my lack of belief.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

No. A stance on one question and on one question only.

Atheism has nothing to do with the above. For the eighty seventh time... Atheism in itself is not harmful. There is no handbook to follow, no instruction, no nothing.

How nice. Give me an example of atheistic propaganda.

Let me help you..."I don't believe there is a God." Or maybe this... "I don't believe there is a God." Or this.... "I don't believe there is a God."

Anything other than this is not atheism.

I choose many things.  Atheism, however, concerns one's state of belief in gods.

Do you understand?

Did you choose to not believe that leprechauns exist?

Did I make a claim about leprechauns?

Cool. At least you have a response. I think you can choose what you believe though, but it's a mesh of things together that account for it.

You're making assumptions.  We had someone proclaim atheism as a necessity.  That is a fact.  Therefore he wanted to destroy government so that those who remained could rule themselves.  And don't help me. Help yourself.  You're also not the determining factor of what atheism is.  That why we reference things when we state them.  So unless you have a citation, then no reason to use your definition over anybody else's.  However, I will agree that atheism on its own is not necessarily harmful, but that was established much earlier in the discussion.

It's probably more accurate to state that he refuses to allow for that simple fact because it doesn't give him pretext to endlessly bitch about other things.

Beliefs are not a choice. They are the psychological state of being convinced of a premise or proposition.

I am not convinced that gods exist, therefore I disbelieve the proposition theists posit that they do exist.

I have no choice in the matter. If a theist was able to convince me (through the use of demonstrable evidence and valid and sound logic), I would be compelled to believe their claim.

Atheism is a natural and inseparable part of Marxism, of the theory and practice of scientific socialism. Our program necessarily includes the propaganda of atheism. - Vladimir Lenin

But it wasn't atheism that was the motivator behind murderous totalitarian regimes. It was the fact that they were murderous totalitarian regimes.

Communism, as it was practiced in the past, just replaced an infallible god, with an infallible State. The problem with Communism as it was practiced, was not that it was secular and atheistic, the problem was it was too much like religion.

You want proof?

Sweden (80% atheist), Denmark (70% atheist), Norway, Finland, Iceland, all over 60% atheist.

Please point to the mass murdering Swedish or Norwegian regimes...

Augusto Pinochet and Adolph Hitler were Catholics, by the way.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

As for Lenin, believing that you get to forever define a movement you had a hand in starting is a common delusion among people who help start movements. Cuba is one of the most classically Marxist-Leninist states, yet has almost as high a percentage of Christians as the USA. Giving up or cutting back on  the 'propaganda of atheism' is a common pattern in communist states as the decades pass.

The delusion is ignoring what has been observed.  You don't have to assume it's going to create a similar event, but we need to at least keep it in the back of our mind so as to catch it if it starts to.

We do have textbooks.  These events are in textbooks.  Or did you mean a version you create so it says what you want it to and nothing more?

No, it's that you're not stating facts. You're stating your own personal views.  That's called an opinion.  Why should I believe you over others who say differently?
