No human being is perfect. I think outside a couple of the field I think all of them have a shot, IF the left unites in the general.
Lots of people on the left liked Obama but also thought he couldn't win.
It can be argued that nobody as of yet comes across as a JFK, Reagan or Obama. But we are not voting for an image, we are voting to put people in power to make policy.
Every time you think like this, remember that every day, multiple times a day, a vile man gets on social media and in front of the camera and bullies all our institutions, including those under him. 4 more years of that jackass bully will also fuck up the Supreme Court beyond repair.
Lol...Do you think I'm going to listen to some goddamned Canadian lecturing me on my civic duty because I simply stated the obvious?
None of them can win, save for Biden possibility. That's reality.
My speaking it, is not what's "makes" it happen.
Grow up.
Bwian is a Canadian? Is that true? If that's true, I'm putting him on ignore and I'm probably going to kick the next Canadian that I see.

And what the fuck is wrong with Canada? They have a better health care system, and nothing close to the firearm violence we do. Now here is where you stupidly argue, "If it is so great move there."

I'm sorry I mistook you for another member @ Brian37, but it was pretty rude and annoying that you saw fit to come out attacking and blaming me not sharing your pie-in-the-sky optimism, when I vote Democratic in every goddamned election and have spent an extraordinary amount of time trying to rally support and votes for the Dems on SM....though they barely deserve it.
If Dems CAN'T BOTHER to put up and/or groom decent candidates who are capable of competing and Trump wins re-election, how is all of this my fault when I'm still voting for whatever worthless bastard the Dems put up like a fucking moron year after year? Riddle me that, Batman.

If you are going to use terms like "worthess bastard", you alone do not define an election, no, so in that context, it isn't your fault. But I don't see how your language helps democrats win. Maybe you need to take Obama's advice and say, "Don't boo, vote". Was he a horrible President?
Now what do you think Obama would say to democrats no matter whom we nominate? I'd doubt he'd say, "fuck it", or "don't vote for that asshole."

Brian, please understand that I don't need you to "explain" this importance of Supreme Court appointments to me or make condescending appeals of What Would Obama Do like I'm a stupid child.
I don't know how to make it more clear to you that I VOTE in every goddamned election I am able to, and I get out the vote. Now you're demanding that I pretend to like whoever the Dems toss into the ring and lie to myself as well.
I think that's a bit too much to ask of me, tbh.
Black atheists are heavily involved in political activism and made a coordinated effort to STOP the Dems from bleeding black voters this last election cycle, because we know what's on the line. Do you think we compelled folks to support the Dems for just one more election cycle by continuing to sugar-coat shit and blowing MORE smoke up their asses? No, Brian. Not possible anymore. Those days are nearing an end.
I "talk" this way because it's imperative that Dems WAKE THE FUCK UP and play this game like they want to win. Business as usual isn't gonna cut it anymore. And I'm not going to join you in this la-la land of supporting loser candidates who have no path to victory, just because it makes you "feel" better.
It is what it is.

Kamala Harris doesn't have the progressive credentials needed to win (Biden and Booker don't either). And yes, it's going to take a progressive to win this election. Democrats need someone who will excite the base. Now, if Kamala wins the primaries -- then I'll vote for her. Just like I'll vote for whatever Dem gets in (having to really hold my nose and avoid vomiting on my ballot if it's Biden or Booker). Kamala's record as a prosecutor is one that's going to be hard for a lot of people to stomach.

I want a progressive, but I don't know if it will take a progressive to win. I want Bernie, really. But I think that the one most able to beat Trump is probably Sherrod Brown. I keep getting this spidey sense that he is going to be the one to win the nom. Is he progressive? Meh. He was considered to be very progressive until Bernie sort of moved the dial on what's progressive. Brown has been disappointing me with bad policies like his plan to increase the EITC. The EITC has become welfare for business owners that need the government to pay people to work for them. So he might not be so progressive.
I can vote for Harris. I can certainly vote for Warren.
I don't think that I can get myself to vote for Biden or Booker. I might have to go 3rd party if they get the nom.

I would like to remind anyone who would consider any major-party candidate unelectable of this:
This was how Trump started his campaign. When I first saw it, I thought "Wow. The sumbitch announced his candidacy and torpedoed his chance before he even left the podium." And yet, he just got more and more powerful, and more and more jackasstic. He won the nomination, and by November, he'd broken every rule in the book, up to and including "don't brag about committing sexual assault." And he won the fucking election. He won it by the lowest popular margin since Rutherford Hayes.
There are no rules in politics anymore. If Trump winning ANY primaries at all didn't convince me of that, it was when he actually won the nomination. And then, his actually winning the election simply reinforced that. The closest thing there is is The Other Guy Must Not Win. You might not like any of the candidates, but there is no way whoever ends up isn't going to be the lesser of two evils. Why, yes, that does suck, but that's the way of the world.

I don't agree with the lesser of two evils reasoning. Sometimes it makes sense. Sometimes it doesn't. It never makes sense when it is the lesser of two evils that is telling you that they are entitled to your support specifically because they are the lesser evil. That's extortion, and the correct thing to do with that is to drive a dagger through the lesser evil's heart. People aren't trying to be good anymore; they're just trying to not be as bad as the worst. That is exactly what completely broke our system.
We got Trump because we deserved him. When no one supports anything, and they are only voting against the other guy, then everyone is just creating a system where the goal is to make the other guy worse than you. And then you idiotically wonder why the system broke, and there are no rules anymore. You spent your entire life drinking koolaid about voting against the other guy, and reduced presidential elections to a gladiatorial sport.
I am not going to pick the lesser of two evils in 2020. I will either have a candidate that I actually support, or I will vote third party, or I will stay home. I will not vote for a candidate that I don't support. If the greater evil wins, it's because people deserve it.
