Loved ones in heaven?
#21
RE: Loved ones in heaven?
I am not trying to decide who is a christian and who is not, i am sorry if it came of that way. I was only talking about people who say they are christians, by their own definition, that is in the bible. last i checked the roman catholic church acknowlged that christs sacrifice was sufficient for salvation. The catholic church may have many different beliefs, but their jesus is the same as mine. whether or not someone is a christian is up to them and what they choose to believe. If someone says they are a christian, the bible, not me gives them the laws and commandments to live by. so far as i know, there is not a "christian church" in the world that claims the esential information that a person needs to know for salvation is not in the kjv bible. even catholics will accept this. feel free to point me in the direction of one who will not.

Min's point is that they are not christians only by YOUR definition, and you are not the one who gets to decide what defines a christian on this planet. Those christians who do not fit your definition will simply say that you yourself are the one who is not a true christian according to THEIR definition.

You see his point?

Every christian believes he is right and the other christians are wrong. Look at Westboro Baptist. Those imbeciles believe that they are the TRUEST of christians and there's no way you could ever convince them otherwise.
Regarding the actual topic of the OP ...

Heaven and Hell are clearly manmade creations of the fearful and vengeful human mind. I recommend paying no attention to any of the words printed in the King James Version Holy Book of Lies.

I believe that all christians would agree the definition of a christian is universall, and if not could you give me the exception? I understand that some people interpret the bible differently, but it is very clear about this part, once again do you know of any interpretations that differ this? I understand your point that anyone who says they are a christian is not going to like being told otherwise, but if they say they are, and there is a universal definition of what it takes to come to salvation through christ. then they must be bound by everything that christ says.

See, you're kind of actually arguing Min's side of the argument now. In fact his point was that if you believe that christ rose from the dead, than you are a Christian regardless of your other agendas and/or interpretations. It was you who said contrary. Your original contention was that people who use god to hate are not true christians -hence Min's "No True Scotsman" point. As far as I can see, you are now arguing Min's side.

Quote:The answer to the question, "Are Mormons Christians," is simple. They are not Christians for several reasons, and their unbiblical doctrines show them to be a "Christian" cult.

who knows. My views allow for the possibility regardless of one's personal beliefs. I make it a rule to only rule out silly man-made rules about death. Other than that, I leave my mind open to all unknown possibilities.

What is a true christian?

According to the dictionary a christian is-
A person who has received Christian baptism or is a believer in Jesus Christ and his teachings.

You may have your own ideas about what it takes to be a true christian, but that would be judgmental, and very unchristian.

The KKK is faith based, the faith being christianity. You might not see them as christians, but they see themselves as christians, so what you think doesn't matter.

Heaven would have to be a great flatline in the sky-or the biggest lobotomy ever created, since, for it to work, were anyone's loved ones to have shuffled off to hell, one would have to forget they existed to be happy. Just another big dogma turd lying around the religious yard.
