But the economy over which president Donald Trump is presiding is strong and getting stronger.
Innovation is accelerating, not declining. A recession before election day looks less and less likely by the day.
Small wonder then that Trump dominates the GOP with an approval rating above 80 per cent.
His administration’s deregulatory push is accelerating. More and more rule-of-law judges, disinclined to accept bureaucrats’ excuses for over-regulation, are being confirmed to the bench. Readiness levels in the US military have been renewed. America’s relationship with its strongest ally, Israel, is at its closest in decades. Meanwhile, the Democrats are facing a Hobbesian choice of Bernie Sanders or Kamala Harris, or former vice president Joe Biden.
And it goes on and on.
It's the UK version of the shitdependent. The last time they did an actual news article was some time in 2010. These days all they do is clickbait and pictures of the owner, Evgeny "Two Beards" Lebedev, sucking off famous people.

Yeah, just "wonderful"
Quote:studies showed Americans are paying up to $3 billion more every month because of tariffs Trump has imposed on various products.
Even some Republicans acknowledge that this amounts to a tax on American families.
South Dakota's Republican governor, Kristi Noem, a Republican said her state has been "devastated by the trade wars that are going on." Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said that "jobs, wages and communities are hurt every day these tariffs continue."
Trump's incompetence in economics, especially global economics, is so vast that the former chair of the Federal Reserve, Janet Yellen, bluntly said that Trump doesn't understand what is going on.
Costs are piling up for Americans now, and the future looks even bleaker if Trump continues down this path. A study from the Chamber of Commerce shows Trump's trade policies could cost the economy $1 trillion over the next decade.

Plus, wages have stagnated to fallen under Trump's watch (although that's not an outlier, under everybody's watch wages have not increased in real terms in forty years, and the median wage is lower). The economy only looks good because of the massive government handouts to rich people and corporations, and the extreme deregulation of loansharking.

Trumpers will Trump in 2020, but as each day passes, there are fewer and fewer of them. 80% of nothing is still nothing.

Mostly true, but I'll bet there will still be a cadre of rednecks that will bemoan that he couldn't be president for life. And we aren't out of the woods, yet.

And there will be people who say we should just skip the election, because a (D) might get in the White House if we have one. This is based on my cousins saying exactly that.

Lowest Barr said something recently that make me think that not only is he a rotten lawyer, but it made me wonder how he got through law school.
He said that if a a President thought he was falsely accused it would be legal for him to fire a Special Prosecutor.
Oh really ? And just who or what would be the method for determining that the accusation was false ?
It's a glaringly begged question, which never entered his head. There is no process, thus any President could (under this scheme) fire any Special Prosecutor,
and effectively makes the Pres above the law. His head is too far up Trump's ass.

Reading about various characters of the Trump administrations and the (probable or not) motivations made me think of one of my all time fav movies, with some of my all time fav actors*: The Nuremberg Verdict.
In his culminating speech, Janning (Lancaster) talks about motivations of people in nazi Germany, and then went on to his co-defendants. I think this is maybe a good summary and panoply of any number of people and their characters during any tumultous time in any country.
Some are just horribly wrong in selling their souls, some are just immoral to begin with. The faceless buerocrat is maybe less of an issue, tho, who knows how many people are sitting in the white house just "doing their job". Luckily quite a few seem not to follow all of Trumps orders or he would already be wearing an orange jumpsuit, but i am digressing. I think in the Trump admnistration most of the *actors* can be clearly classified as one of the characters with one of the motivations Janning describes.
Lancaster for example reminds me of (if i am correctly informed about his background) Mattis. Serving his country well with all his dedication, and then making a fatal misjudgement.
*Lancaster, Tracy, Clift, Schell, Widmark, Dietrich, Garland, and of course: Captain Kirk! . EPIC
