This reminded me of a second hand music store I visited in the 90s where they had a box of vinyl records with a tag "Free records. Please take those away and unburden us" and it were just bunch of some poor anonymous musicians, but as a sore thumb among them was a record of songs sang by Doris Day with glamorous photo of her - I guess it was, what you would call, a real John Waters moment

Was it something like this:

Or a jackpot like this:

You know, there's a lot that rubbed me the wrong way about her (her willfully wholesome, thoroughgoingly conservative manner that typified the sort of reactionary schmaltz of dark age of Hollywood that the New Hollywood era had to rinse away), but, as these photos (and other posts in the past) might have clued you in on, I've always been a sucker for girls who prefer to be barefoot, and given how most of her films have shots like this:

It's safe to assume she was one of them.

I think Richard Wagner's RIP is especially ironic. The "Ride of the Valkyries" (German: Walkürenritt or Ritt der Walküren) refers to the beginning of act 3 of Die Walküre, the second of the four operas constituting Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. This is perhaps his most emotionally stirring work. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, depending on your point of view), this work may be most known to future generations as the, "Kill the Wabbit" song.

Who the fuck isn’t a Bugs Bunny fan?

Okay, in all seriousness, that imagery is probably more stirring than what’s actually happening on stage when that music is playing, namely, nothing. Seriously, “Ride of the Valkyries” is largely the prelude for Act III of Die Walkure. The curtain isn’t even raised for most of it. And when it is, it’s just the Valkyries yelling “hojotojo” at each other on a mountaintop talking about the slain heroes they brought for Wotan. (Source: the Penguin Classics translation of the libretto for the Ring Cycle I have on my lap right now.) By the time Brunhilde actually enters the scene, Wagner moves on to another movement.

Also, my research into the Third Reich and Hitler makes me very skeptical of claims that he had any meaningful sex life (yes, even with Eva Braun.)

I've never said "hojotojo" in my life.

I said "hoojie paloojie" once, but I was drunk at the time and can't be held responsible for my actions.

Yeah, I remember in the 1990s there were a lot of those documentaries about the 20th century and I remember watching some french imported documentary series about the 20th century where they said how Hitler & Eva would have sex by Hitler squatting naked in the corner and then Eva would piss on him while he would call her "Mamma" (although I guess in German) - you think there is some truth in that?
