As usual, the choices aren’t any old fever dream you can conjure up. There’s no reason to lock people up without a trial ( unless they’re The Wrong Kind ).
All law enforcement depends on cooperation. The fact that full cooperation is a fantasy isn’t a reason not to do a large number of other things we do. The red flags main purpose isn’t to confiscate existing firearms in the first place. It’s to prevent their acquisition. A significant number of shooters plan before they buy, and it’s at that planning phase that they’re likely to get noticed, if they get noticed.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I get it, but this is one issue that goes way beyond one website, to the tune of nothing getting done, to the tune of 100 people a day on average dying. I am not passionately against guns. I am passionately against the way far too many view guns. If guns are not toys, and they are not, and everyone agrees that we should keep them out of the wrong hands, and I agree. Then our current bullshit assumption of "no record at time of legal buy will insure nothing bad happens after that legal buy" IS BULLSHIT. It ultimately amounts to two camps. One camp does not give a shit how many we sell or where they end up. The other camp does NOT want to ban all sales, but simply does not want a flooded market. I have two personal friends I would TRUST with an Ar-15 or a Tommy gun clip. The difference is that they would NOT object to a buyback program, and would NOT FALSELY accuse me of wanting tyranny. They'd simply accept they are not assholes, if it means giving up certain firearms and big clips, my GUN TOTING FRIENDS would accept that public safety is far more important than narcissism. Public safety is not fascism, it is not an end to all firearm sales. It just means we should not make them like candy and hand them out like candy.
Meanwhile, a gun store in Texas is having a "back to school" sale.

If you can sell bullet proof backpacks who gives a fuck that you are literally training kids to accept PTSD like they were finding Waldo or learning their times tables, or learning whom Jefferson was. The more bullets, the more fear, the bigger the party, right? Considering a couple of young people found a gun in a box, IN A CLASSROOM, and decided to play with it, I guess you're right. RE: Why Red Flag Laws Won't Work.

I may have mentioned in this thread before, in debates with my late Republican mother whom was a lifetime teacher, to which we disagreed on everything, the one thing we did agree on is that both of us thought it was BAT SHIT INSANE to arm more in a public school.
