Alzheimers in heaven.

RE: Alzheimers in heaven.
I’ve told my mother I’m going to have her euthanised before her alzheimers gets too bad.

She tells me there’s no history of dementia in her family.

A likely story...

There's no history of dementia in my family either. Except for my parents and their parents.

Well, a person with incipient dementia WOULD say that, wouldn't they?

Wouldn't the world make a lot of sense if God suffered from dementia. It would explain a lot.

Come to think of it, do narcissistic sociopaths with dementia start being good people again?

I think most of the issues with god stem from the idea that he's supposed to be omni everything, and absolute perfection. If they dropped that, and just said sometimes he screws up, and either doesn't know what he's doing, or isn't strong enough to fix every problem, then we'd let it slide a lot more.

Hell, you might argue that he lost a lot of power creating the world. He went from speaking things into existence, to needing to flood everything but breeding pairs in an effort to curb corruption. Couldn't he just wipe the slate clean, and recreate everything? He should be able to, but he allowed corruption to remain. And it eventually culminates into being unable to help his chosen people because the other side had iron chariots. He's devolved into one of the fair folk, who have an inherent weakness to cold iron.

RE: Alzheimers in heaven.
The hunter-gatherers needed a force that could correct their situation if necessary. That was a god or gods. Some humans quickly realized that there was a cushy job available, an intermediary between humans and their imaginary saviour. If the priest led a prayer for a solution and it materialized he would get the adulation, passing it on to the god of course. If the prayer failed he could blame one or more humans in the group, or the group as a whole, for not being spiritual enough. This lead to the lethal attitude toward "those people."

Maybe we're all gods suffering from dementia.

Narcissistic sociopaths with dementia forget to put on the mask.
But I think it's impossible to tell them apart from normal people who show narcissistic tendencies due to general breakdown in brain function.

If they ever create a machine that lets us experience other people's thoughts, I reckon it would be fascinating to experience dementia, all types of brain damage, being a baby.
How we could better serve those who can't communicate with this information.

If he's going to take out all the parts of me that he doesn't like, leaving only what he approves of, I may as well have alzheimers. I am the combination of all my parts. If you strip away too much, especially without my consent, then it won't be me in heaven. It'll just be a stripped down facsimile that calls itself Chad. That's not what I call a reward.

I've certainly heard different versions of "heaven will be better" before. However, being told you'll be "more than you were" does not mean you'll be less than you were, which is what your comment suggests.

You do bring up an interesting topic of identity. What makes you, you, and how much can be changed and removed before you're no longer you. From a first-person perspective your sense of self is wrapped up with your memories, often referred to as autobiographical memories. So, I would argue that as long as memories are left intact, almost everything else about you can change in heaven and you'll still be you.

That being said, are there memories which are in your best interest to have removed if heaven is to be a rewarding place? Take for example PTSD, which is intimately wrapped up with the memory of an event. Supposing there is no consent, should a deity remove negative memories of future heaven residents?
